<ul> <li>Looking for this position to start in January and no later than end of January </li><li>Can be located out of our Scottsbluff or Sidney Office </li><li>Travel to school districts in our service area will be expected </li></ul> <p>Job Title: IT Infrastructure & Security Engineer</p> <p>Department: Technology</p> <p>Education Level and Certification: Bachelor's degree or Associates degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology or related field. Five years previous experience (or combination of experience and education) and preferred certifications or related certifications in: Industry and Vendor Certifications and Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP.</p> <p>Reports To: Technology Director</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 240 days-12 months / Schedule 6</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities and Job Tasks</p> <p>Provide supplemental network support to ESU13 and its twenty-one member school districts across the Nebraska panhandle. Consult with school district technology coordinators to determine technology needs including, planning, researching, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure. Network assistance and support of school district LAN/WAN networks. Research issues, perform network troubleshooting using analysis tools, repair or replace equipment, and configure equipment.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with vendors, clients, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management. </li><li>Contribute to the development and implementation of district service plans. </li><li>Participate in project management activities involving collaboration and teamwork. </li><li>Respond to teacher (user) and administrator support requests; maintain professional contact with assigned districts; and assist ESU-affiliated education groups and advisories as requested. </li><li>Implement and maintain systems for monitoring network performance and information security. Troubleshoot anomalies using network analysis tools such as Wireshark. </li><li>Engineer, implement, and support school networks, providing ongoing technical support for all network infrastructure including access control, LAN, WAN, WLAN, video surveillance, VoIP, and servers. </li><li>Support the development, configuration, and maintenance of information security products, policies, programs, standards, procedures, and controls. </li><li>Utilize a Cybersecurity Readiness Rubric to assess district security risks and develop mitigation plans. </li><li>Implement and configure network switches, wireless access points, servers, storage systems, and other network equipment. </li><li>Design and implement new networks or network upgrades including LANs, MANs, WANs, WLANs, and Internet connections; provide guidance on network expansion. </li><li>Conduct site surveys of school district network infrastructure to determine equipment needs; recommend design or replacement plans; develop budgets; and write Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to utilize E-Rate funding. </li><li>Implement and maintain firewalls, VPN gateways, intrusion prevention/detection systems, cyber risk mediation processes, vulnerability management, surveillance systems, cloud services, client applications, and incident response procedures. </li><li>Configure new servers with operating systems and necessary services. </li><li>Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP. </li><li>Configure and manage domain controllers, including identifying and assigning the five FSMO roles and setting up a new Primary Domain Controller (PDC). </li><li>Strong knowledge of Backup and Email Security Gateway solutions. </li><li>Strong knowledge of Antivirus management and endpoint protection systems. </li><li>Replace and repair laptop hardware as needed. </li><li>Configure printers with static IP addresses and add them to the print server. </li><li>Provide guidance, direction, and training for the ESU 13 LAN Manager Advisory Group. </li><li>Maintain a positive image of ESU 13 through effective client and community relations. </li><li>Work collaboratively with ESU 13 departments to support technology integration efforts. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all related systems. </li><li>Assist the Technology Team in supporting ESU 13 staff. </li><li>Demonstrate strong verbal, written, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Organize and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines. </li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned. </li><li>Comply with ESU 13 Standards for Employee Performance and Code of Ethics. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge</p> <p>The Network Engineer/Internet Services Specialist is to possess and effectively utilize knowledge in the following areas:</p> <ul> <li>Computers and Electronics-Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. </li></ul> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt.
