<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Elementary Full-Time Substitute:</p> <p>Easton Arts Academy Elementary Charter School is a public charter school serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Our student body reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the greater Lehigh, Carbon, and Bucks counties and the Pocono Region. Besides our rigorous academics we offer an exceptional arts program, such as visual arts, theatre/drama, music, dance, and movement.</p> <p>Purpose:</p> <p>This is a full time position where the building substitute teacher provides instruction and manages the classroom environment when a teacher is absent. When a teacher is not absent, the building substitute will pro ide instructional support to designated classrooms per the building principal.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Reports To:</p> <ul> <li>Elementary School Principal </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. </li><li>Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities. </li><li>Conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. </li><li>Follow objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students. </li><li>Assign class work and homework. </li><li>Read books to entire classes or small groups. </li><li>Administer and grade tests and assignments. </li><li>Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems. </li><li>Reinforce administration policies and rules governing students. </li><li>Confer with other absent teacher to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula. </li><li>Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations. </li><li>Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage. </li><li>Lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling. </li><li>Supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities. </li><li>Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need. </li><li>Leaves notes or completes a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day. </li><li>Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators. </li><li>Consistently displays professionalism and is collaborative with all staff. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of principles and methods of teaching elementary students. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Experience working with children and students preferred. </li><li>Excellent communication skills. </li><li>Must be punctual and reliable. </li><li>Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting of up to approximately 30 pounds may be required. </li><li>Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures. </li><li>Ability to communicate comfortably (written and orally) with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and others. </li><li>Valid teaching credential preferred. </li><li>Ability to pass a background check. </li><li>Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable. </li><li>Demonstrate patience and leadership skills. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors degree required, preferably in education. </li></ul> <p>Certification:</p> <p>Elementary (PK-4 or K-8 preferred), may consider emergency certification</p> <p>Interested candidates can contact Tracy Nicolazzi at tnicolazzi@eaaecs.org.</p>
