<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Cafeteria Aide / Lunch Monitor</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <ul> <li>Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Cafeteria/Lunch Monitor & Clerical Support staff member is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and efficient cafeteria environment during all lunch periods </li><li>Provides basic clerical and instructional support as assigned </li><li>Supports student supervision, positive behavior expectations, and overall daily school operations </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Supervise students during all lunch waves to ensure a safe and orderly cafeteria environment </li><li>Monitor and guide student behavior using positive reinforcement strategies (PBIS) </li><li>Assist students as needed during lunch periods </li><li>Clean and sanitize cafeteria tables between lunch waves </li><li>Support cafeteria flow and student transitions </li><li>Provide clerical support, including copying and preparation of instructional materials </li><li>Operate standard office and instructional equipment, including laminator, paper cutter, Ellison die-cut machine, and copier </li><li>Assist teachers with classroom material preparation as needed </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <ul> <li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or central office administration </li></ul> <p>Equipment</p> <ul> <li>Standard school and office equipment, including copiers, printers, computers, and phones </li><li>Instructional support equipment including laminator, paper cutter, and die-cut machine </li></ul> <p>Travel Requirements</p> <ul> <li>No regular travel required </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to supervise and manage student behavior in an unstructured setting </li><li>Basic computer proficiency </li><li>Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively with staff </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Ability to maintain a calm, structured, and positive environment </li><li>Familiarity with positive behavior intervention strategies (PBIS) preferred </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Profile</p> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with children in a school or youth setting preferred </li><li>Prior cafeteria, supervisory, or school support experience preferred </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain a safe and orderly environment using positive reinforcement </li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills </li><li>Flexibility to support clerical and instructional preparation tasks </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand and walk for extended periods </li><li>Ability to supervise students in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Ability to move throughout the school building as needed </li><li>Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 25 pounds </li><li>Ability to respond quickly to student needs and maintain active supervision </li><li>Sufficient visual and auditory ability to monitor student safety and behavior </li></ul> <p>Employment Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Part-time (PT), non-benefit eligible position </li><li>Approximately 4 hours per day during the school year </li><li>Hourly position paid on a bi-weekly basis </li><li>$16.94 per hour, consistent with Connecticut wage standards for this position </li><li>Paid time off (PTO) provided in accordance with applicable Connecticut state law </li><li>Subject to applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions, if applicable </li><li>Employment contingent upon successful background check clearance and compliance with all district requirements </li><li>Assignments and evaluations conducted in accordance with district policies and administrative procedures </li></ul> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity Statement</p> <p>North Stonington Public Schools does not discriminate in any employment practice, education program, or educational activity on the basis of race, color, religious creed, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability (including, but not limited to, intellectual disability, past or present history of mental disorder, physical disability or learning disability), genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by Connecticut state and/or federal nondiscrimination laws.
