<p>JOB TITLE: Elementary School Teacher - Midway Elementary</p> <p>SUMMARY OF POSITION/PURPOSE:</p> <p>To help students reach maximum cognitive, affective, psychomotor development; and goal-setting development and to help each student demonstrate competencies as defined by local, state and national statements of student outcomes, specifically the New Mexico Content Standards and Benchmarks.</p> <p>SUPERVISOR:</p> <p>Elementary School Principal/Head Teacher</p> <p>SUPERVISES:</p> <p>Instructional Assistants and assigned volunteers</p> <p>EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED:</p> <p>Required: Bachelor's degree</p> <p>EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED;</p> <p>Preferred: At least three year's teaching in position</p> <p>CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:</p> <p>Valid New Mexico Public Education Elementary Teaching License with endorsement in appropriate content area.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education. </li><li>Instructs pupils in citizenship and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. </li><li>Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and provides individualized and/or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. </li><li>Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. </li><li>Evaluates pupil's academic growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares timely progress reports, and report cards. </li><li>Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils with physical, social, and academic needs. </li><li>Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, and bulletin boards. </li><li>Maintains professional competence through educational activities, workshops, university credit courses. </li><li>Participates in the selection and requisitions books, instructional materials, and supplies maintains required inventory records. </li><li>Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned during the work day. </li><li>Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program. </li><li>Participates in faculty committees as assigned. </li><li>Participates in curriculum development programs as required. </li><li>Integrates the use of educational technology into instructional
