<p>The Assistant Outdoor Educator plays a vital role in supporting academic courses taught by the Outdoor and Community Recreation Education program by assisting with various aspects of course delivery, activity supervision, and equipment maintenance. This position offers an excellent opportunity for students with a passion for the outdoors to gain practical experience in outdoor leadership, outdoor education, and environmental stewardship. Job responsibilities will include assisting in planning and organizing outdoor and adventure activities, assisting with equipment preparation, care, and inventory management. The person in this role will be expected to interact positively with students to promote outdoor activities, encourage participation, maintain safety, and promote environmental responsibility.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher</p> </li><li> <p>Must meet the minimum credit hour requirements for the semesters the supervisor is requesting funding</p> </li><li> <p>Fall: 12 credit hours</p> </li><li> <p>Spring: 12 credit hours</p> </li><li> <p>Summer: Students either need to have worked for you in the Spring or will continue to work in the Fall. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles. , Operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position. , Expressing or exchanging ideas. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately or quickly. , Ability to receive detailed information with or without assistance., Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Physical Requirements of this position Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision. Required to have close visual acuity to inspect small defects, small parts at distances close to the eye., Required to have visual acuity to perform activities such as: operating machines, (i.e. lathes, drill presses, power saws) where the job is at or within arm's reach; skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, plumber, mechanic. , Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. The worker is subject to outside environmental changes. No effective protection from the weather. , The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. , The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity., The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level., The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.</p>
