Applicants will be interviewed from requisition #09824 certification list* </li></ul> <p>INDIVIDUALS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION MUST COMPLETE THE CIVIL SERVICE LABOR SERVICE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE POSITION AT https://www.csexam.hrd.state.ma.us/eligiblelist/LSApplications.aspx?ListId=77&ListTypeId=4&LS_Town=Boston in addition to completing the City of Boston Career Center application.</p> <p>Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):</p> <p>Works under the immediate supervision of the City of Boston Animal Shelter Manager and the Director of Animal Care and Control. Ensures all animals are cared for and treated in a humane manner.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Ensures all animals are provided with the appropriate amount of food and water. </li><li>Follows established disease control and daily cleaning protocols. </li><li>Cleans animal cages, quarters, equipment, and utensils. </li><li>Assists with animal intake and evaluations. </li><li>Creates and maintains necessary animal records. </li><li>Performs related work as required. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Exposure to animals, dander, debris, odors, approved cleaning solutions, airborne particles, dust, and zoonotic diseases. </li><li>Exposure to various weather conditions when working outside with animals. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Entrance Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Applicant must have at least one (1) year of experience with the handling of animals. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Calendar, Docs, email, and Chameleon preferred. </li><li>Ability to safely handle, restrain, walk, and exercise animals of all sizes. </li><li>Ability to safely work with animals that may be injured, unruly, vicious, or otherwise dangerous. </li><li>Tetanus and rabies (pre-exposure) inoculations are required or must be waived. </li><li>Ability to work well and communicate effectively with the public, employees, and volunteers. </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. </li><li>Ability to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Requires frequent and/or prolonged walking, bending, lifting, and stooping. </li></ul> <p>Employment Address:</p> <p>26 Mahler Road Roslindale, MA 02131</p> <p>CORI Check required</p> <p>BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED</p> <p>Terms:</p> <p>Union/Salary Plan/Grade: AFSCME/RA1-9</p> <p>Hours per week: 40</p>
