<p>This job will be accepting job applications until the position is filled.</p> <p>Annual Salary:</p> <p>$53,001.00 - $56,745.00</p> <p>Hourly:</p> <p>$27.18 - $29.10</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>Public Safety, Traffic & Transportation</p> <p>Division:</p> <p>Electronics & Traffic Signal Operations</p> <p>FLSA:</p> <p>Non-Exempt</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operator is responsible for monitoring the roadway utilizing ITS devices and project specific software to maintain an accurate real-time traffic incident status database.</p> <p>Examples of Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Implements appropriate traffic signal timing plans to optimize arterial street traffic flow. </li><li>Manages traffic incident information in accordance with the applicable standard operating guidelines. </li><li>Disseminates pertinent traffic incident information via Dynamic Message Signs, Highway Advisory Radio, CCTV, scanners, field personnel, internet, two-way radio and customers. </li><li>Reads and interprets technical information related to TMC operation or other relevant documents. </li><li>Obtains and reports traffic incident status information to and from multiple agencies. </li><li>Detailed documentation and reporting of incidents. </li><li>Notifies supervisor of equipment or system malfunctions. </li><li>Monitors the operation of the rapid bus transit system through the traffic signal systems. </li><li>Provides outstanding customer service when responding to customer calls. </li><li>Assists the electronics technicians in installing and maintaining traffic signals, computers and electronic components as needed. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree (AA/AS) or equivalent; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in traffic or transportation control center engineering environments. </li><li>Valid South Carolina Driver's License. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA). </li><li>Traffic Signal Field, Technician Level II certification. </li><li>International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA). </li><li>Transportation Center Specialist I. </li></ul> <p>Other Necessary Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs. </li><li>May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled </li></ul> <p>The City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity ( EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation.
