<p>Store Manager in Training - The Salvation Army Thrift Store</p> <p>About The Salvation Army</p> <p>The Salvation Army is an international movement and part of the universal Christian church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination Our thrift stores play a vital role in funding our Adult Rehabilitation Centers and providing affordable shopping options to our neighbors.</p> <p>Pay Rate: $18.00</p> <p>Status: Full Time, 40 Hours per Week</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Join our team in "Doing the Most Good" as a Store Manager in Training. This position assists Store Manager and Assistant Manager with the following: store staff, production, sales, store maintenance, customer development, banking, and record keeping procedures. Support the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in all day-to-day operations of assigned Family store.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities</p> <p>Leadership & Operations</p> <ul> <li>Support staff training and supervision as assigned </li><li>Implement strategies to meet production and sales goals </li><li>Assist manager with store maintenance and appearance, ensuring safety, security, cleanliness, and utility </li><li>Ensure compliance with OSHA and Salvation Army safety/security policies </li><li>Work with store manager to keep income and expenses within budgeted parameters </li><li>Protect resources through product control procedures to prevent shrinkage </li></ul> <p>Customer & Community Relations</p> <ul> <li>Implement customer development and retention plans </li><li>Create an enjoyable shopping experience </li><li>Work proactively to improve The Salvation Army's image among staff and community </li><li>Support The Salvation Army's mission statement </li></ul> <p>Administrative</p> <ul> <li>Support banking and record-keeping procedures </li><li>Document and provide information for personnel reviews and corrective actions </li><li>Communicate with Store Manager regarding all aspects of store operations </li><li>Handle all other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>High School Degree or Equivalent. 2 years of retail experience, thrift experience is a plus. Associates Degree a plus.</p> <p>Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with customers, management and co workers. </li><li>Basic computer skills including but not limited to the use of the Point of Sales System; the payroll program and all other programs or systems that are adopted by the TSA ARC. </li><li>Ability to give change accurately. </li><li>Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibility:</p> <p>Supports the training and supervision the store staff.</p> <p>Document and provide information requested about direct reports to store manager for a personnel review and corrective action.</p> <p>Review and approve time and attendance for store personnel using the current payroll system.</p> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands, handle, or feel; and hear or talk. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch.</p> <p>The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.</p> <p>Travel:</p> <p>May be required to travel to various locations for work or training</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>The work environment for this position is a store environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
