<p>Are you a Certified Phlebotomist? Lorain County JVS Adult Career Center is currently hiring a part time phlebotomy instructor. As an instructor you will prepare students to receive entry-level training as a phlebotomist with emphasis on explaining the general practice of phlebotomy, demonstrating professionalism and communication skills, defining and demonstrating blood collection, skin puncture and venipuncture, and other related skills.</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a Certified Phlebotomist with a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience and/or a combination of recent work experience and education. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Successfully prepare phlebotomy students for NHA certification test </li><li>Evaluate student skill competencies and job readiness, maintain an accurate grading system, and maintain student attendance records </li><li>Manage classroom in such a manner as to ensure an environment conducive to learning </li><li>Manage clinical experiences: including working with students and clinical sites for clinical placement as well as working with the supervisor and students to work through any issues that may arise during the clinical experience. This includes visiting sites and monitoring progress on competencies and goals of the clinical experience </li><li>Maintain a program advisory committee made up of industry professionals. </li></ul> <p>Position: Adult Career Center - Teacher</p> <p>Salary Rate: As per Salary Schedule</p> <p>Reports to: Adult Director</p> <p>Employment:</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Retirement: STRS</p> <p>Description: Teach the appropriate course of study by using a variety of instructional techniques that meet individual learning styles.</p> <p>Note: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation </li><li>Attend meetings and in-services as required </li><li>Recommend long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in the career-technical education program </li><li>Maintain working relationship with community and state agencies and area businesses, industries, and labor organizations in order to provide appropriate training </li><li>Ensure safety of students </li><li>Work to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting these opportunities </li><li>Coordinate all work components </li><li>Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, parents, and community </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., cumulative folders and IEP's </li><li>Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy </li><li>Responsible for the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to career-technical education to appropriate state agencies </li><li>Assist in disciplinary procedures and actions and record keeping </li><li>Coordinate requests for repairs to lab equipment </li><li>Oversee the distribution and inventory control of all supplies and equipment used by vocational students </li><li>Maintain membership in and participate in the affairs of professional societies devoted to the advancement of vocational education </li><li>Assist in the recruitment of students </li><li>Establish an advisory committee </li><li>Coordinate the gathering, selecting, and analysis of data with respect to jobs available </li></ul> <p>Other Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Able to acquire the appropriate certificate from the Ohio Dept. of Ed. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others </li><li>Counseling skills </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing </li><li>Effective, active listening skills </li><li>Organizational and problem solving skills </li><li>General computer and word processing skills, including spreadsheets, data base and presentation software </li><li>Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology </li></ul> <p>Equipment Operated</p> <ul> <li>Motor Vehicle </li><li>Computer/printer </li><li>Telephone </li><li>Fax machine </li><li>Copy machine </li><li>Typewriter </li></ul> <p>Additional Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Weekends/evening/summer work </li><li>Repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing </li><li>Requirement to travel, both daily and overnight </li></ul> <p>This job description is subject to change and in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the incumbent.
