<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>Organization's Summary Statement:</p> <p>The Department of Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Counselor Education, beginning in Fall 2025. We seek a dedicated scholar and educator committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated faculty committed to preparing future counselors through rigorous academic training, mentorship, and community engagement.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Teaching and Advising: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Develop and deliver graduate courses in Counselor Education. </li><li>Utilize innovative teaching methodologies and technology to enhance </li></ul> <p>student engagement.</p> <ul> <li>Teach core counseling courses (e.g., counseling theories, techniques, </li></ul> <p>ethics, and multicultural counseling).</p> <ul> <li>Provide academic advising, mentorship, and support for students in their </li></ul> <p>practicum and internship experiences.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Research and Scholarship: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintain an active research agenda in Counselor Education or related </li></ul> <p>areas.</p> <ul> <li>Pursue scholarly activities, including publications, presentations, and grant </li></ul> <p>writing.</p> <ul> <li>Engage students in research and evidence-based practice initiatives. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Service and Program Development: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Participate in curriculum development and alignment with accreditation </li></ul> <p>standards (e.g., CACREP).</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to program assessment, continuous improvement, and </li></ul> <p>accreditation efforts.</p> <ul> <li>Engage in department, college, and university service, including </li></ul> <p>committees and student support initiatives.</p> <ul> <li>Foster partnerships with local schools, community agencies, and </li></ul> <p>professional organizations to enhance the Counselor Education program.</p> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Doctorate in Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP-accredited </li></ul> <p>program) or</p> <ul> <li>A related doctoral degree with prior full-time faculty employment in a </li></ul> <p>counselor education program (per CACREP eligibility guidelines) or</p> <ul> <li>Related doctorate degree and have been employed as a full-time faculty </li></ul> <p>member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full</p> <p>academic year before July 1, 2013; or</p> <ul> <li>Have been employed as a full-time doctoral-level faculty member in a </li></ul> <p>CORE-accredited master's program prior to July 1, 2017; or</p> <ul> <li>Have graduated from a rehabilitation doctoral program before January 1, </li></ul> <p>2018</p> <ul> <li>Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor in </li></ul> <p>Maryland.</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated teaching experience at the graduate or undergraduate level. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>May require extended periods of standing, bending, sitting at desk. </li><li>May require lifting up to 25 lbs. </li><li>Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and </li></ul> <p>internally.</p> <ul> <li>Requires operation of a variety of office equipment. </li></ul> <p>Preferences:</p> <ul> <li>Doctorate from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education program. </li><li>Experience in online or hybrid teaching formats. </li><li>Prior professional counseling experience in school, community, or clinical </li></ul> <p>settings.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards and processes. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Commitment to student success and academic excellence. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented academic environment. </li><li>Dedication to professional development and lifelong learning. </li></ul> <p>Licenses/ Certifications: Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor in Maryland.</p> <p>Additional Job Details</p> <p>Required Application Materials: Letter of Interest detailing teaching philosophy, research interests, and service contributions, Curriculum Vitae, unofficial transcript (official transcripts will be required once an offer is accepted), and the names of three current professional references (current or past supervisor) including e-mail address, and telephone number (current supervisor will not be contacted without the candidate's prior consent).
