<p>The Beneficial Reuse Group (BRG)/Solid Waste Management is responsible for management of DSNY Long Term and interim recyclable contracts with multiple vendors. BRG accounts for estimated Annual Budget of $141,000,000; Revenues of $45,000,000, and Recyclable tonnage of 985,000. BRG is looking to hire a College Aide who under supervision will assist with the following listed below but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Performing professional accounting work of moderate difficulty and responsibility; Executing accounting assignments following prescribed rules of procedure. </li><li>Preparing reconciliations and balancing books. Preparing reports and correspondence affecting various accounts. </li><li>Conducting audit program; examining books and personnel and timekeeping records; analyzing data; preparing work papers and reports on findings setting forth criteria, conclusion, and recommendations. </li><li>Performing audit follow-up tasks, e.g., reviewing reports and requesting for status update; maintaining file on each audit; coordinating implementation of audit recommendation; monitoring computerized tracking system; determining what additional follow-up is needed. </li><li>Developing work papers, obtaining documents (i.e., vouchers, warrants, contracts, budgets, timecards) from agency and analyzing them. Using computer to input and retrieve information. Performing difficult arithmetical computations. </li><li>Maintaining control of nominal and real accounts. Responding both orally and in writing to inquiries from clients, vendors, and agency personnel. </li></ul> <p>COLLEGE AIDE (ALL CITY DEPTS) - 10209</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>For Assignment Level I:</p> <p>Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.</p> <p>For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):</p> <p>Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.</p> <p>For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):</p> <p>Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.</p> <p>SPECIAL NOTE</p> <p>Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.</p> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communications skills - Preferred candidates with excellent analytic skills, as well as Advanced Access and Excel expertise. - Knowledge of GAAP or GAAS, Financial System, and Microsoft Office. - Strong organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills. </li></ul> <p>Public Service Loan Forgiveness</p> <p>As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
