<p>This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Allied Health Occupations department. The pool will remain open unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available. If at any time you decide that you are no longer interested in being considered, you may log in to the system and withdraw your application from the pool. Typically, at the end of the year (or at any point we no longer have a hiring need for this department), we will close this pool and you will receive an email notification. </p> <p>Providing direct supervision and assessing progress of phlebotomy students in a classroom or laboratory classroom setting. Participate in program faculty meetings. Maintain college standards regarding professionalism, record keeping, and instruction within the Allied Health department faculty team of the Medical Assistant program. </p> <p>Supervision Received </p> <p>The dean, in consultation with the Allied Health Director and the Health Professions Education Coordinator is responsible for carrying out the evaluation of instructors under procedures developed by the vice president. The dean confers with the department director and Health Professions Education Coordinator in decisions regarding instructor workload, professional growth, retention, and department staffing levels.</p> <ul> <li>Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate. </li><li>Advises students on matters of program goals and course requirements, scheduling office hours as required. </li><li>Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate. </li><li>Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process and instruments which are related to the stated objectives of the course. </li><li>Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities. </li><li>Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed. </li><li>Serves as a member of college-wide standing committees, screening committees, and other related activities as assigned. </li><li>Participates in the development of the quarterly class schedule and the annual departmental budget; initiates purchase requisitions, travel requests, and work orders as needed. </li><li>Engages in regular professional growth activity based on the objectives established in an approved professional manner. </li><li>Represents the program and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner. </li><li>Responsible for departmental equipment: participates in periodic inventory and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education: For Phlebotomy courses, PBT (ASCP) current certification required and previous teaching experience preferred. Current CPR/First AID card, HIPPA and OSHA standards training required.</p> <p>Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.</p> <p>Licenses and Certificates: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)). </p> <p>Experience: At least two years of recent full-time clinical phlebotomy experience or supervision required. Broad clinical and teaching experience preferred. Three years of clinical experience that includes training and instruction to students preferred. ASPC PBT. Or equivalent preferred. First Aid/CPR.</p> <p>Knowledge of: Computer applications for online learning through Blackboard, Class Spec Details, grading, communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, spreadsheets and database management, multi-media presentations; curriculum development; the community colleges mission, role in higher education, and student population; and sensitivity to a diverse student body and its needs; of the role of accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act; of a variety of pedagogical methods, including lecture, group activity, discussion and individual instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles. Knowledge of Clinical and Medical office Safety Includes: knowledge of safe chemical handling, storage, and disposal procedures; safe handling and disposal of sharps and phlebotomy equipment; how to locate and use MSDS sheets; proper medical safety and infectious disease handling and disposal; OSHA and HIPAA training.</p> <p>Ability to: Able to be deemed "fit" by Senior and Persons with Disability (SPD) Division following required Criminal History check. Ability to safely demonstrate, model, and instruct students using proper procedures and protocol. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with respect to diverse students, staff, agencies and community members; ability and willingness to work with non-traditional adult learners as well as teens; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and related educational duties, including the use of new technologies such as online instruction; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check. </p> <p>Physical Demands: The physical demands listed below represent those that must be met by an incumbent to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with qualified disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Manual dexterity and coordination are required for less than half of the daily work period (about 40%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds occasionally, and 25-60 pounds rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.</p> <p>Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate. </p> <p>This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching part-time in the Allied Health Occupations department.
