<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Student Scribe</p> <p>Unit: Student Employment</p> <p>Department: Student Access and Support Services</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Student Access and Support Services</p> <p>Date: August 1, 2024</p> <p>General Summary: Scribes provide necessary in-class support to fellow students eligible for a scribing accommodation. A scribe provides support only for direct classwork on class days that the student is in attendance. Homework assistance and tutoring are not the responsibility of the scribe.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Producing detailed and accurate transcription notes from lectures and providing those notes in a timely manner </li><li>Transcribing, verbatim, dictation by the student in completing in-class activities </li><li>Providing assistance in handling materials for in-class activities, where required </li><li>Performing only tasks as assigned in the scribe role and maintaining boundaries and professionalism at all times </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Currently enrolled student of Middlesex Community College </li><li>Completion of at least 12 credits with a minimum 2.5 GPA and current enrollment in college-level courses </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with note taking </li><li>Legible handwriting </li><li>Proficiency in use of computer and mobile applications </li><li>Strong command of spoken and written English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to attend, in full and for the entire semester, all classes for which scribing is contracted </li><li>Punctuality for classes and related scribing situations (labs, etc.) </li><li>Understanding of and adherence to all confidentiality standards of the college and the Student Access and Support Services department </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Good working knowledge of the course topic(s) being scribed </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salary Range: $17.00 per hour in accordance with the College's Part-Time Wage Schedule</p> <p>Location: Lowell and/or Bedford campus as needed</p> <p>Hours: Up to 10 hours per week, schedule to be determined by scribe availability and courses assigned</p> <p>Expected Start Date: September 3, 2024</p> <p>Application Deadline: This position will remain open until filled</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>All applicants must apply online by submitting:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>Sample notes </li></ul> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements:</p> <p>The College will not sponsor applicants for work visas.</p> <p>Middlesex Community College only accepts application materials through our online application system.
