<p>Secondary Teacher, Assistant Varsity Football Coach</p> <p>Department: Instructional</p> <p>Job Status: Full Time</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Reports To: Building Principal</p> <p>Grade/Level: Secondary 9-12</p> <p>Amount of Travel Required: Minimal; may be required in conjunction with pre-approved professional development activities</p> <p>Positions Supervised: None</p> <p>Work Schedule: 200-day contract, Monday through Friday</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>This position is demanding, varied, and complex. The educator must be collaborative, a relationship builder, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well-trained in secondary education content knowledge, and possess effective and engaging teaching strategies.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching all learners. </li><li>Create a student-centered classroom environment. </li><li>Facilitate students' physical, cognitive, social, and emotional learning through lessons designed to sequentially develop skills appropriate to their ability and confidence levels. </li><li>Provide engaging, fun, and effective instruction that builds a health and wellness foundation. </li><li>Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, ensuring maximum participation and differentiating as needed for all students to experience success. </li><li>Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. </li><li>Develop engaging and effective lesson plans and supplementary materials. </li><li>Provide ongoing formative feedback to students. </li><li>Demonstrate a growth mindset individually and support this development with all students. </li><li>Communicate in developmentally appropriate ways through a humane, sensitive approach that clearly communicates that every student, regardless of ability, can succeed and will benefit from a physically active, healthy lifestyle. </li><li>Implement and support school-wide programs. </li><li>Collaborate with school team members to increase health and wellness, movement, and activity within the classroom. </li><li>Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas that align with the school-wide behavior framework. </li><li>Provide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students. </li><li>Evaluate academic and social growth of students, maintaining appropriate records, including report cards, attendance records, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as assigned. </li><li>Communicate with parents, school counselors, and administrators on student progress. </li><li>Focus on making learning visible through effective student engagement. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree required. Must hold a valid Arkansas Teaching License with appropriate endorsement. </li><li>Experience: At least one year of physical education teaching experience at the level of application or student teaching. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with students and the public in a school setting. Student teaching also applies. </li><li>Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas and contributes to building a positive team spirit. </li><li>Verifiable ability to work with students of varying levels of readiness. </li><li>Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, staff, or members of the community. </li><li>Proficiency in database software, internet software, email, and ability to proficiently use Google Docs, etc. </li><li>Ability to appropriately communicate with students, school team members, parents, members of the community, partners, and others including vendors, law enforcement, and other agencies. </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Arkansas Teaching License with appropriate certification </li><li>This position is primarily performed indoors in school buildings, although some outdoor instruction and supervision are required. </li><li>Frequent or prolonged standing, walking, and sitting. </li><li>Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student or employee injury or illness. </li><li>Requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling, and working with materials and objects. </li><li>Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations. </li><li>Evenings and/or extended work hours are often required. </li></ul> <p>Workplace Expectations:</p> <ul> <li>The employee has regular attendance at work and work activities and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules. </li><li>The employee maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague, or district patron. </li><li>The employee follows all district or supervisor policies, rules, regulations, memos, bulletins, announcements, applicable position descriptions, and reasonable requests by proper authority. </li><li>The employee demonstrates appropriate judgment and professional behavior at all times. </li></ul> <p>The NLRSD is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p>
