<p>About the Opportunity</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The Plasticity in Neurodevelopment Lab (PINE Lab) at Northeastern University, led by Professor Laurel Gabard-Durnam, is seeking a full-time Research Technician to work on a project examining how electroencephalography (EEG) neuroimaging measures in the first years of life predict later language and cognitive development in populations experiencing early adversity. We will be focusing on individuals who have experienced iron deficiency and children experiencing severe poverty across several geographies including South Africa, and the USA. This position is part of a larger project funded by the Gates Foundation examining early brain biomarkers of healthy development and school readiness in global contexts. This role provides exposure to research at the intersection of neuroscience, developmental psychology, predictive modeling, and public health.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>This is a research-focused position that will involve a high degree of data processing and analysis, with the opportunity to earn first-authorship on publications stemming from this project. The Research Technician must demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity as this is an international project examining neurodevelopment in multiple countries. Primary responsibilities of the position include: (1) EEG data management and quality control remotely for international contexts; (2) training others on EEG data collection with infants and children; (3) working collaboratively with our team to meet project goals; (4) manuscript preparation and authorship; and (5) general administrative duties to maintain the workings of the project. This position may serve as a launching pad to graduate and professional (e.g. medical school) studies.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>(1) Background in developmental psychology, neuroscience, public health, or a related field; (2) excellent organizational and communication skills, (3) B.A., B.S., or equivalent required, (4) experience in a lab using electroencephalography (EEG) methods preferred, (5) experience with data collection in infants or populations that have experienced adversity is preferred.</p> <p>Position Type</p> <p>Research</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Northeastern University considers factors such as candidate work experience, education and skills when extending an offer.</p> <p>Northeastern has a comprehensive benefits package for benefit eligible employees.
