<p>Tool And Die Associate - 2nd Shift</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY Responsible to repair and maintain molds, dies and tooling to support internal customer needs. Support a variety of specialized activities required to enhance capabilities. This could include skill assessment, training/mentoring, systems improvement and operation at a higher level of complexity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Utilize measuring equipment such as mics, calipers, bore gages, indicators, gage blocks, etc. to confirm dies and components meet print specification to tolerances of+/- 0.005mm. </li><li>Safely operate basic manual machining equipment such as mills, lathes, surfaces grinders (including carbide if applicable) to modify, make, or repair die components and support customers when needed to +/- 0.01mm </li><li>Work with die component drawings as well as complex assembly prints to assemble, confirm, and evaluate the condition of tooling as needed. </li><li>Perform PM procedures and repairs per JIS or OMS on molds, dies, and tooling as needed as well as document and accurately record the status of all tooling when completed. </li><li>Troubleshoot molds, dies, and tooling as needed on the bench to determine root cause issues. Take corrective action as necessary to restore all tooling back to original print specification by replacing worn , or broken parts with available spare parts. </li><li>Effectively apply the PDCA process to identify potential process improvements </li><li>Effectively follow repair methods including welding (TIG, MIG or laser if applicable), fitting, mirror polishing, hand working and assembly of tooling components and perishable items to restore to an acceptable quality level. </li><li>Support internal customers at the job site, (at the press or on the production floor) to determine root cause and corrective action as necessary to address reported problems and make improvements to recover downtime. </li><li>Participate in company and departmental activity for improvement of safety, efficiency, and cross training as needed. </li><li>Provide supplemental training to new associates for measuring equipment, basic manual machining equipment and die repair PM's. </li></ul> <ol start="11"> <li>Assemble, fit and prepare new tooling to print for initial production start-up. </li></ol> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>High School Diploma or GED</p> <p>Completion of an Apprenticeship Program to earn Journeyman Tool and Die Maintenance status or a minimum of two yeas' experience as a Tool and Die Maker or Tool and Die Maintenance associate.</p> <p>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications listed. Education</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Trade certifications and Journeyman's status preferred </li><li>Microsoft Office computer software skills preferred </li></ul> <p>Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>2 or more years of relevant experience required </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Ability to comprehend written and verbal instruction and display a high aptitude in blue print reading, math, and mechanical aptitude. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or direction and make sound, experience based decisions. </li><li>Display behavior which exhibits a positive attitude and willingness to accept change, ability to be trained and train others on new products and tooling as needed and communicate with leadership and coworkers effectively. </li><li>Ability to prioritize work when necessary to best support Production in the most efficient and effective manner. </li><li>The ability to follow a JIS or OMS when needed in the safe and correct procedure on any step by step process to assure Safety, Quality, or Operation of a given task. </li><li>Demonstrated competency in working with computer software to accurately input history, procedures, and evaluate results to support the department </li><li>Knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures </li><li>Qualified to operate a PIV and crane. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. May require bent or standing positions for a minimum of eight hours per day. Must be able to lift arms above shoulders and possess dexterity to handle small parts as required. Must be able to comply with all PPE requirements.</p>
