<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position performs painting and surface preparation work under the general supervision of the Building/Grounds Superintendent for the Wisconsin Veterans Homes. The incumbent supports facility maintenance and improvement projects by completing painting work on interior and limited exterior surfaces. This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and does not include lead worker, supervisory, or journeyman responsibilities. Work is performed in occupied institutional buildings with an emphasis on safety, quality, and minimizing disruption to facility operations. Materials and surfaces encountered may include metal, wood, plaster/drywall, concrete masonry units (CMU), concrete floors and surfaces, ceilings, doors, frames, and similar building components.</p> <p>A copy of the full job description is available to view.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Starting wage is $20.34 per hour, plus additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.</p> <p>Facilities Repair Worker is in pay schedule-pay range 03-10. For current or eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire.</p> <p>This job does not offer employee benefits.</p> <p>This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Our Facilities Repair Worker will be performing basic maintenance functions to help the facilities team with workload. This could be changing light bulbs, performing preventative maintenance, filter changes, painting, etc.</p> <p>Physical and environmental conditions and requirements include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Interior building conditions are those normally found in a long-term health care facility.</p> </li><li> <p>WVH-King is a multi-building institution. Some buildings are connected by a network of underground tunnels. The facilities are located on 321 acres of varying geography. Work is performed throughout the campus in all weather conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>NOTE: Work will require the wearing of personal protective equipment as indicated, including hearing protection, hard hats, safety glasses, dust masks, gloves, leg protection, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Heavy physical labor including lifting in excess of 100 lbs.</p> </li></ul> <p>These requirements cover the major and essential functions of the position but are not necessarily representative of all duties which this position may be assigned to perform.</p> <p>Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.</p> <p>Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>performing general maintenance tasks across building and grounds structures;</p> </li><li> <p>ability to work independently and as part of a team;</p> </li><li> <p>general knowledge of safety protocols.</p> </li></ul> <p>Well-qualified applicants will also provide details about their experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>working in a 24/7 facility;</p> </li><li> <p>operating and repairing large and small motorized equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>experience working outdoors in all weather conditions;</p> </li><li> <p>following safety procedures.</p> </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To be eligible for consideration for this job, complete the online application process.
