The cover letter must include examples of how your past work experience is applicable to this position.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Director at the University of Michigan-Flint?s Early Childhood Development Center, in collaboration with Center staff and participating families, provides an early childcare and education program that supports excellence in learning. The Director is responsible for assuring that the program?s curriculum and teaching are carried out in accordance with the Center?s philosophy while being fiscally responsible. The Director provides support and guidance in documentation for Child Care Licensing, Great Start to Quality, and, and provides supervision and mentorship for staff working with children. In addition, the Director will supervise all aspects of the program to provide a high-quality, Reggio Emilia inspired program for young children, along with college students, faculty, staff, and the community.</p> <p>The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) or their designated person.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Programmatic Direction</p> <ul> <li>Establishes and implements short and long-range program goals and objectives for the ECDC. </li><li>Ensures that the program follows the licensing requirements mandated by the Michigan Department of Human Services. </li><li>Oversees ECDC's participation in the Quality Rating and Improvement System through Great Start to Quality. </li><li>Maintains a program wide system for student records including admission forms, medical information, dietary restrictions, parental permission notes and attendance records. </li><li>Meets regularly with the CASE Dean, or their designate, in regard to all aspects of the ECDC. </li></ul> <p>Children's Program</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that all children are being served in a developmentally appropriate manner. </li></ul> <p>Health and Safety</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that all programs maintain strict health and safety guidelines for the wellbeing of infant, toddler, preschool and school age children and the adults within. </li><li>Oversees all aspects of the on-going maintenance of the ECDC. </li></ul> <p>Family, Community, and University Relations</p> <ul> <li>Establishes and maintains relationships with families and community members. </li><li>Collaborates with faculty, staff and other university departments in developing programs and research that link research activities with early childhood education practices. </li><li>Coordinates observations and student practicum activities throughout the Center. </li></ul> <p>Staff Management</p> <ul> <li>Supervises staff, student/non-student temporary employees, interns and volunteers. </li><li>Provides leadership to staff by expressing organizational values and program standards, maintaining channels of communication and soliciting staff input in decision making when appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Budget Management</p> <ul> <li>Manages the overall ECDC budget.
