The role requires strong technical depth in hardware-software integration, API-driven architectures, and production support in high-volume environments.This position also leverages modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development tools and automation, to improve code quality, accelerate delivery, and enhance troubleshooting efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain POS peripheral and payment integration components across devices such as payment terminals (e.g., Verifone/Ingenico), barcode scanners (e.g., Honeywell/Zebra/Symbol), printers, cash drawers, and SCO weighing systemsBuild and enhance Java/Spring Boot-based services and microservices supporting real-time device communication and store lane workflowsDevelop and support API-driven integrations enabling seamless connectivity between POS, payment processors, and backend systemsUtilize AI-assisted coding tools and modern development accelerators to improve development efficiency, code quality, and issue resolutionWork closely with device manufacturers and vendors to troubleshoot issues, validate fixes, and support driver, firmware, or SDK-level integrationsPerform deep troubleshooting across device, application, and integration layers, including logs, connectivity, performance, and stability issuesSupport production deployments, monitoring, and store rollouts, including off-hours support during critical release windowsContribute to observability and operational readiness, including Splunk dashboards, alerting, and troubleshooting runbooksMaintain clear visibility into assigned deliverables, risks, and dependencies, ensuring consistent and predictable executionCreate and maintain technical documentation and integration playbooks for long-term maintainability and operational efficiencyRequired Qualifications5+ years of software development experience with strong focus on POS systems, device/peripheral integration, and payment systemsStrong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based architecturesProven experience integrating retail POS peripherals and payment terminals (e.g., Verifone, Ingenico, Honeywell, Zebra/Symbol or equivalent) Experience building and supporting API-driven enterprise applications in distributed environments Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, device communication layers, and backend servicesExperience working in production environments, including monitoring, debugging, and performance tuningExperience collaborating with external vendors and third-party providers for integration and issue resolutionFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, debugging assistants, automation tools)Preferred QualificationsExperience with retail POS platforms (e.g., ToshibaPOS,OmniStore or similar) Familiarity with Splunk or similar observability tools for log analysis and monitoringExperience with cloud-native development (AWS), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines Exposure to PCI-compliant or security-aware development practicesUnderstanding of payment processing flows and EMV conceptsEducationBachelor's degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)Anticipated Weekly Hours40Time TypeFull timePay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:$101,970.00 - $203,940.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
