<p>Job Posting: TESOL Teacher</p> <p>Position: TESOL Teacher</p> <p>Location: Eagle Academy / Enfield Street School</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Enfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for English Language Learners (ELLs).</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of ELL students. </li><li>Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure academic growth. </li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language development strategies across the curriculum. </li><li>Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to meet the diverse needs of students. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents and guardians. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in TESOL. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut (111) Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), PK-12 </li><li>Bachelor's degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred). </li><li>Proven experience working with middle school students, particularly ELLs. </li><li>Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and effective teaching strategies. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators. </li></ul> <p>Best Practices for TESOL Teaching:</p> <ul> <li>Differentiated Instruction: Tailor lessons to meet the varying proficiency levels and learning styles of students. </li><li>Cultural Responsiveness: Incorporate students' cultural backgrounds into the curriculum to make learning more relevant and engaging. </li><li>Interactive Activities: Use group work, discussions, and hands-on activities to promote active learning and language use. </li><li>Scaffolding: Provide structured support to help students gradually build their language skills and confidence. </li><li>Formative Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through informal methods such as observations, quizzes, and student reflections. </li><li>Technology Integration: Utilize digital tools and resources to enhance language learning and provide additional practice opportunities. </li><li>Parental Involvement: Engage with parents and guardians to support student learning at home and build a strong school-community connection. </li><li>Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest research and trends in TESOL by attending workshops, conferences, and webinars. </li></ul> <p>EPS contracts are accessible HERE.</p>
