<p>The Department of Mathematics at Southern Utah University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics position starting August 2025. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The responsibilities of this position are three-fold: effective teaching, original scholarship, and dedicated service. The hired candidate's teaching schedule will be coordinated between them and the department chair, consisting of mostly 3- and 4-credit classes, for a total of 24 credit hours each academic year (typically 12 per semester). These courses will range across all levels, from upper-division to general education. Candidates with a specialty and interest in teaching or developing courses in data science, statistics, or applied mathematics will be highly favored. Scholarly activities should include publications and presentations within the scope of the Mathematics Department's criteria. The potential to engage undergraduate students in research is also viewed favorably. While all mathematical backgrounds are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to applicants whose backgrounds are in data science, statistics, or applied mathematics. Committee work and professional development are also expected.
