<p>Job Title: Child Care Attendant</p> <p>Department: Fitness</p> <p>Reports to: Youth Program Director</p> <p>Job Type: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment ,planning and implementing daily activities to coordinate with the weekly camp themes. Summer camp counselors will work to lead ,teach and support each camper in their time at camp .</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Supervision & Safety</p> <ul> <li>Actively monitor and care for children ages 5-12 years </li><li>Maintain a clean, secure, and child-friendly environment. </li><li>Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures, and regulations set forth in the Camp license by the NYS DOH </li><li>Be on time for shift , campers are depending on you , be alert and healthy during shift. </li></ul> <p>Engagement & Interaction</p> <ul> <li>Organize and lead age-appropriate activities such as games, arts and crafts, story time, and free play, swimming, ice skating, gymnasium and outdoor play. </li><li>Promote a positive and respectful atmosphere among children. </li><li>Engage all children in the activities, encourage campers to try new activities and meet and participate with new friends </li><li>Welcome children daily , be alert to concerns , actively supervise children. Prepare areas of activity , check for safety concerns, be able to fix problems or alert camp director and other staff to solve problems. </li><li>Be proactive and be a problem solver </li></ul> <p>Parent & Staff Communication</p> <ul> <li>Greet parents/guardians, manage check-in and check-out procedures. </li><li>Do health checks with campers and alert parents of concerns and or observations. </li><li>Communicate any concerns, behavioral issues, or incidents promptly and professionally. </li><li>Collaborate with supervisors and other staff to support child care program standards. </li></ul> <p>Facility Support</p> <ul> <li>Sanitize toys, equipment, and play areas regularly in compliance with health standards. </li><li>Monitor supply inventory and inform supervisor of needs. </li><li>Follow all facility policies, licensing regulations, and COVID-19 safety protocols if applicable. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred. </li><li>Experience in child care, babysitting, or early childhood education preferred. </li><li>CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). </li></ul> <p>Skills & Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Friendly, patient, and attentive with strong communication skills. </li><li>Ability to handle multiple children with varying needs and energy levels. </li><li>Reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Problem solver </li><li>compassionate and empathetic </li></ul> <p>Essential Function</p> <p>Seldom</p> <p>Occasionally</p> <p>Frequently</p> <p>Stationary Position -- Sitting or Standing</p> <p>X</p> <p>Active Position -- Walking, jogging, running</p> <p>X</p> <p>Use of hands/fingers -- Operate, Use, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position, Prepare, activate</p> <p>X</p> <p>Climb/Balance -- Stairs, ladders, ropes, equipment, beams</p> <p>X</p> <p>Stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl -- Position self, move</p> <p>X</p> <p>Talk/hear -- communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information</p> <p>X</p> <p>See -- Detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or less</p> <p>X</p> <p>Carry weight, lift -- Move, transport, position, put, install, remove -- 50 lbs or more</p> <p>X</p> <p>Exposure to -- Exposed, work around, chemicals, odors, smells, noise, indoors or outdoors, heat, cool.</p> <p>X</p> <p>DISCLAIMER</p> <p>The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodation will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job, absent undue hardship.
