<p>Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is looking for an analytical thinker with excellent data visualization skills to join our Data Science & Analytics team. Our college has made a commitment to becoming a data-informed institution, supporting our strategic goals, initiatives, and efforts around student success and institutional sustainability. A major portion of this initiative is fueled by the development and continued growth of data products (dashboard, reports, etc.) for our college community (faculty, staff, administration, and students).</p> <p>The Data Analyst will work on our Data Science & Analytics team, a group of highly collaborative and innovative data team members to democratize data across the college. This position will be involved in the design, development, and maintenance of strategic Competency-Based Education related college dashboards, reports, and data products. The Data Analyst will focus on providing effective visualizations to drive actionable insights to our college community.</p> <p>Our team is fueled by learning, growth, and innovation. We pride ourselves on being the data experts and storytellers across the college.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities and Duties Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field.</p> <p>One (1) year of full-time related work experience.</p> <p>Demonstrated experience with SQL.</p> <p>Demonstrated experience with visualizing data.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Master's in a quantitative or technical field.</p> <p>Experience with Power BI for data extraction, manipulation, and presentation.</p> <p>Experience with Competency-Based Education.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Experience with understanding user's data needs and interpreting these into effective and powerful visualizations, reports, or data products. </li><li>Ability to communicate with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements. </li><li>Experience with SQL, including the ability to use analytic functions and complex statements to query data for visualizations or reports. </li><li>Experience in building effective data visualizations and appealing dashboards. </li><li>Ability to define new process improvements opportunities. </li><li>Knowledge of data models, data warehousing, and ETL processes. </li><li>Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Cognos or Power BI, including the ability and willingness to explore and learn new features and functionalities to expand our ability to use these tools. </li><li>Familiarity with data visualization concepts and strategies to build effective dashboards and reports. </li><li>Familiarity with Competency-Based Education. </li><li>Ability to write clearly and precisely with strong attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team. </li><li>Strong critical thinking skills and ability to identify and solve problems. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Collegial and professional interpersonal skills. </li><li>A willingness and ability to learn new skills, new tools, and to accept and give constructive feedback. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. </li><li>Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities. </li></ul> <p>Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties</p> <ul> <li>Work with the Assistant Director of Business Analytics to design and build reports, dashboards, and data products in partnership with users in the School of Applied Technology and other CBE programs across the college to meet their needs for data-informed decision making. </li><li>Focus on effectively visualizing actionable intelligence. </li><li>Utilize best practices in analysis and visualizations. </li><li>Ensure quality and trusted data is reported. </li><li>Conduct thorough review of own work. </li><li>Perform detailed reviews of team members' work and provide feedback. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions</p> <p>Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
