<p>Approved February 2019</p> <p>TITLE: Custodian</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To maintain school system buildings and grounds in a clean, safe condition</p> <p>FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Principal MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>High school diploma or its equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Good public relations skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read instructions and write brief reports</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use technology and operate machinery associated with job responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the</p> </li></ol> <p>Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457</p> <ol start="6"> <li> <p>Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups</p> </li><li> <p>Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lift 50 pounds</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in oral, written, electronic communications and able to use various technological</p> </li></ol> <p>devices/software, and ability to articulate clearly to others</p> <ol start="10"> <li> <p>Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance</p> </li><li> <p>Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule if needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to climb, stoop, bend, and lift as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.</p> </li></ol> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and priorities.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks efficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains confidentiality of any Board of Education business, its staff, and its students.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates and models regular and predictable attendance.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates professional appearance and demeanor at all times.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, record</p> </li></ol> <p>keeping, reporting, scheduling, and other job responsibilities as required..</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Keeps building and grounds clean and neat (sidewalks, entrances, offices, classrooms, restrooms, </li></ol> <p>etc.).</p> <ol start="8"> <li> <p>Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning filters, vents, etc.)</p> </li><li> <p>Reports maintenance needs to local school administration.</p> </li><li> <p>Sweeps, mops, vacuums floors.</p> </li><li> <p>Dusts furniture, cleans windows, cleans baseboards, buffs and waxes floors as needed and in</p> </li></ol> <p>accordance with established schedules and guideline.</p> <ol start="12"> <li> <p>Cleans and disinfects all restrooms and restroom equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Disinfects desks, tables, and counters.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses chemicals, cleaners, and equipment according to established safety guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports potential problems, unusual events or work irregularities to appropriate administrative</p> </li></ol> <p>or supervisory personnel.</p> <ol start="16"> <li>Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns, and/or complaints in a timely </li></ol> <p>and positive manner.</p> <ol start="17"> <li> <p>Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment and materials resources of the school system.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with board policies and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains inventory of needed supplies, equipment, and tools and notifies appropriate personnel</p> </li></ol> <p>when re-stocking or replacements are needed.</p> <ol start="20"> <li>Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Principal. </li></ol> <p>SALARY: Based on the St. Clair County School System Salary Schedule</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: based on Board approval</p> <p>EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated according to board policy.</p> <p>This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned</p> <p>to this position.
