Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Previous candidates need not reapply</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The Engineering Associate will demonstrate a commitment to providing continuous quality service, protect and promote the brand, image, and reputation of the City, while striving to exceed the needs and expectations of our citizens and employees.</p> <ul> <li>Prepare engineering design calculations, schedules, bid calculations, and preliminary cost estimates. </li><li>Conduct field investigations and visits to future project and current construction sites. </li><li>Assist with preparation and review of engineering reports, including all construction plans specifications, schedules, contract documents, and field data. </li><li>Research design specifications for inclusions in the project. </li><li>Assist with preparation of design amendments, change orders, and other related documents as necessary for Capital Improvement projects. </li><li>Work with Engineer and Construction Contractors to develop changes to building plans and specifications as needed. </li><li>Interpret maps, plats, and construction drawings. </li><li>Assist in the preparation of bid documents for public works projects and the dissemination of the bid packet to the prospective contractor. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering </li><li>Minimum of two (2) years of related experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>Experience in a municipal public works setting is desirable, but not required </li><li>Prefer candidate who has already taken the EIT exam </li><li>Must have good practical knowledge of general engineering principals as applied to public works projects </li><li>Ability to exercise independent engineering and technical judgement skills </li><li>Ability to interpret maps, plats, and construction drawings and plans for bother internal and within end user departments </li><li>Ability to prepare detailed, concise reports </li><li>Ability to meet and communicate with the public in a courteous and patient manner </li><li>A valid driver's license is required.
