<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Automotive Technology Department has a full-time tenure track faculty position open. Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of Automotive and Heavy Equipment Repair Technology lecture courses and laboratory activities. Content areas such as Vehicle Electrical Systems, schematics & diagnostics, Suspension Systems including active suspension, air ride repair and diagnosis, Braking Systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, Engine and Transmission operation with diagnosis and repair. ASE Certified Technicians are an Industry standard. All courses use ASE standards for material and testing. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, participation on committees, and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes.</p> <p>The successful candidate will be qualified to teach several of the following classes and labs:</p> <ul> <li>ATC/CHQ 103 Automotive Fundamentals </li><li>ATC/CHQ 104 Automotive Braking Systems </li><li>ATC/CHQ 116 Automotive Electrical Systems </li><li>ATC 202 Vehicle Suspension Systems </li><li>ATC/CHQ 271 Vehicle HVAC </li><li>ATC 205 Automotive Driveline </li><li>ATC 141 Engine Repair </li><li>ATC 243 Engine Performance </li><li>ATC 141 Fuels & Ignition </li><li>Other Heavy Equipment Courses </li></ul> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Be responsive to student questions and available for student support; </li><li>Use appropriate technology to enhance learning; </li><li>Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives; </li><li>Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education; </li><li>Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion; </li><li>Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes; </li><li>Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; and, </li><li>Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Appointment at the Rank of Instructor:</p> <ul> <li>Associate Degree in Automotive Technology or related field and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 10 years of industry-related experience; or </li><li>Automotive industry experience, industry-recognized training, and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 20 years of industry-related experience. </li></ul> <p>Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor:</p> <ul> <li>Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 10 years of industry-related experience; or </li><li>Automotive industry experience, industry-recognized training, and industry-recognized certifications, with at least 20 years of industry-related experience. </li></ul> <p>Related Fields:</p> <ul> <li>Automotive </li><li>Commercial/Heavy Equipment </li><li>Electrical </li><li>Mechanical </li><li>System Engineering </li><li>Technology Education </li><li>(CTE, Vocational, etc.) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Background in teaching college level courses </li><li>Demonstrated connections with local industry </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. Schedules, including required office hours, are selected in advance for each semester.
