Our diverse student body hails from Wayland and Boston and is composed of 32% students of color and 68% white students, with 15% of our students having a first language other than English. The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position.</p> <p>Job Goal: The Teacher Assistant (Study Hall Supervisor) is assigned to supervise students during their study hall and other duties are determined by the school.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Make a careful attendance check. </li><li>Assign students to specific seats. </li><li>Ask all students to take out their planner and open it to the week's work at the start of Study Hall. </li><li>Ensure that all students engage in independent reading during the first 20 minutes of study hall. </li><li>Refer the names of consistent non- workers should to the appropriate counselor(s). </li><li>Maintain a quiet and focused environment. </li><li>Assist students by answering their questions and helping them organize their study hall time. </li><li>Study Hall Supervisors implement all Schoolwide Expectations including the maintenance of bathroom sign in/sign our log and allowing only one student to leave the study to use the restroom at any one time. </li><li>As the classroom leader, the Study Hall Supervisor is responsible for creating a welcoming and equitable learning environment </li><li>Hold high expectations for all students, provide appropriate support, and serve as a facilitator of student learning; </li><li>Lead the supervision of children </li><li>Keep student information confidential. </li><li>Operate equipment used in the classroom/school, as directed; </li><li>Provide clerical and other assistance for the school as necessary; </li></ul> <p>Any other relative duties as assigned.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
