<p>Special Education Instructional Coach</p> <p>Location: Site Levels/Schools to be assigned</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Student Services</p> <p>Salary Range: Per WBR Salary Schedule</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 10 Months</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate the development of IEPs for all children with disabilities receiving special education services. </li><li>Assists school staff and parents who have concerns pertaining to IEPs and instructional matters. </li><li>Assure that parents are provided full and effective notice of proposals to initiate or change the educational placement of an identified disabled student. </li><li>Assists special education teachers and service providers in completing all required records and paperwork needed for students with disabilities </li><li>Provides oversight and management for Special Education Reporting (SER) by reviewing, monitoring and submitting IEPs. </li><li>Serve as the designee for the Director of Student Services at IEP Conferences. </li><li>Monitors the implementation of programs at the school level to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations. </li><li>Assist the Director of Student Services in organizing and coordinating special education services which include service delivery, LEAP annual monitoring, needs assessment, and extended school year programs. </li><li>Maintain accurate records regarding placement, IEP development and monitoring in accordance with system policies and state and federal regulations. </li><li>Assist with the annual program review on special education programs offered throughout the district and how to better meet students' needs (Review LEA Determination, SER reports, etc…) </li><li>Visit assigned school regularly to support teachers (regular & special education) and other school personnel to plan, facilitate, monitor and evaluate positive instructional outcomes for students with disabilities </li><li>Provides on-going consultation to school personnel in dealing with students with disabilities experiencing academic and behavior problems </li><li>Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement. </li><li>Provide targeted coaching to struggling and first-year teachers through assistance with IEPs, lesson plans, model lessons, etc. </li><li>Provides technical assistance in accessing the general curriculum with emphasis on providing appropriate accommodations and modifications </li><li>Provide in-service training to school personnel on matters relating to IEP development, least restrictive environment regulations, etc. </li><li>Develops and provides instructional support to school personnel regarding best practice to meet the needs of students with disabilities (implementing an IEP and monitoring with data) </li><li>Acts as a liaison between the school system, business and agencies and parents to facilitate meaningful community experiences and facilitate transition to post school activities </li><li>Assists in the implementation of parish and school improvement plans </li><li>Keep abreast of current programs and regulations by attending appropriate professional meetings. </li><li>Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning. </li><li>Perform any other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Holds a valid Type A/B or Level II/III Teaching certificate in special education or an Ancillary Certificate </li><li>Five years of successful professional school experience teaching special education </li><li>Master's Degree in Education, preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.</p> <p>NOTE:</p> <p>This job description is subject to change at any time.
