The successful candidate will teach courses related to health care administration and contribute to the program's ongoing development, housed within the School of Business. This role also involves scholarly research, advising students, curriculum development and contributing to service initiatives within the department, the college, and the broader health care community.</p> <p>The Health Care Administration Program (HCA) at Rhode Island College provides Baccalaureate-level and Masters level education and training for students considering careers in the health care industry. The program is specifically targeted for those pursuing supervisory and management positions and/or preparation for graduate education. The program represents a unique collaboration between the School of Management and the School of Nursing with significant contributions from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development.</p> <p>This four-year, 120-credit interdisciplinary program was crafted based upon accrediting body standards, best practices of existing programs around the nation, and the recommendations of experts, and utilizes courses from 18 different majors. The HCA major also incorporates an internship and an integrative capstone experience. For their restricted electives, students are offered choices within gerontology, human resource management, informatics, management foundations, and wellness. There is also a minor in HCA.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Teach a range of courses in health care administration, including but not limited to Quality Management/Improvement in Health Care, Transformational Leadership in Health Care Organizations, and health care finance. </li><li>Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, guiding their academic progress and career development. </li><li>Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the department's programs. </li><li>Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as part of faculty governance. </li><li>Engage in community outreach and professional service activities that enhance the department's role in the health care community. </li><li>Conduct and publish peer-reviewed research in relevant fields of health care administration. </li><li>Maintain an active professional presence in the field, attending conferences and workshops to stay current with industry trends. </li></ul> <p>The College requires that all applicants and employees be able to perform the above essential duties of the job and will explore reasonable accommodations for individuals with documented disabilities in accordance with ADA requirements.</p> <p>Occasional Duties</p> <p>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the director of the Health Care Administration program.</p> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities</p> <p>Good teaching skills and good ability to impart this knowledge to undergraduate students, as well as fulfill all other job functions.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Ph.D. or DrPH in Health Care Administration, Public Health, Health Services Research, or a closely related field. </li><li>Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education. </li><li>A record of peer-reviewed publications or potential for scholarly research. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and community stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in health care leadership or administration in a clinical or operational setting. </li><li>Expertise in one or more areas such as health care finance, policy analysis, transformational leadership, or health care quality improvement. </li><li>Experience with in-person teaching and curriculum development. </li><li>Candidates who have an earned master's degree or equivalent and are pursuing a terminal degree but who have not yet completed their terminal degree by the date of appointment may be considered for appointment at the rank of instructor </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <p>The program is offered in a traditional laboratory and teaching facility.</p>
