<p>Food Literacy Program Facilitator</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Food Literacy Program Facilitator will lead hands-on, engaging workshops that help students explore nutrition, healthy cooking, and wellness practices that support their development as student-athletes and community members. This program is funded by the CHPE Option 2B Enhancement Grant and will serve high school students through a series of workshops focused on food preparation, nutritional education, and cultural food exploration.</p> <p>The facilitator will lead up to 5 student-facing sessions in collaboration with the Everett High School Athletics Department and the Manager of Extended Learning. Topics may include meal planning, food labels, cooking basics, food equity, and performance-focused nutrition. Sessions will integrate student voice, wellness practices, and culturally responsive education strategies.</p> <p>WORKING TIMES:</p> <p>May - June 2025 (Exact dates to be determined based on student availability)</p> <p>Approximately 5 workshops sessions</p> <p>Flexible Scheduling based on school calendar and facilitator availability</p> <p>REMUNERATION:</p> <p>$40/hour total stipend up to a total maximum stipend of $750</p> <p>Total compensation not to exceed 18 hours (includes planning, facilitation, and coordination time)</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and deliver engaging food literacy workshops aligned with nutrition education goals </li><li>Design student-centered activities that promote healthy eating, cultural food knowledge, and performance-based wellness strategies </li><li>Collaborate with school staff to align workshops with student needs, including athletes and English Language Learners </li><li>Incorporate hands-on cooking activities, discussions, and visual learning tools into sessions </li><li>Lead food safety and preparation activities in a school-based setting </li><li>Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions and build real-world skills </li><li>Track student attendance and engagement, and share feedback with the Manager of Extended Learning </li><li>Coordinate workshop space, supplies, and logistics with district staff </li><li>Participate in 1-2 planning meetings prior to the launch of the program </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in nutrition education, culinary instruction, youth development, or wellness programming </li><li>Comfort leading hands-on workshops with high school students </li><li>Strong communication and classroom management skills </li><li>Commitment to equity, student voice, and culturally relevant education practices </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Health Education, or a closely related discipline. </li><li>Current EPS employee in good standing </li><li>Previous experience working in Extended Learning programs - after school, before school, summer learning, Acceleration Academies, coaching, tutoring, etc. </li><li>Foreign Language Proficiency </li></ul> <p>Interested candidates should apply on TalentEd.</p> <p>For questions, please contact:</p> <p>Danielle Durham, Manager of Extended Learning, ddurham@everett.k12.ma.us, Ext. 610076.</p> <p>The Everett Public Schools, in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate in its programs, facilities, or employment or educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record (inquiries only), disability, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' dignity or interferes with their ability to learn or work.</p>
