<p>The City of Lakeville's Forestry Department is looking for a Seasonal Tree Inspector to help care for our city's trees. This temporary position runs from September through October, Monday to Friday, 30-40 hours per week.</p> <p>In this role, you'll be essential in maintaining new tree plantings across the city. Your main duties will include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Watering, weeding, and mulching new trees.</p> </li><li> <p>Staking and inventorying recently planted projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining seasonal planting boxes and pots along the downtown business corridor.</p> </li><li> <p>Assisting with planting program activities and other related tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Driving city watering vehicle to planting sites on public property.</p> </li><li> <p>Watering, weeding, mulching, caging and staking trees and shrubs at planting sites as needed to aid in plant establishment. </p> </li><li> <p>Fill out weekly water reports to track maintenance and health of trees and shrubs at planting sites.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with forestry staff when there is a maintenance, safety or disease issue with trees on city property.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and in working condition.</p> </li></ul> <p>Other Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Water and maintain trees, shrubs and seasonal planting boxes/pots along the downtown business corridor.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist forestry staff with other planting program activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist forestry staff with tree inventory and plant pest management programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Detail oriented and ability to work independently without direct supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be at least 18 years of age.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess valid driver's license and have a good driving record.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate or ability to be trained to operate various equipment in a safe manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with other employees and the public. </p> </li><li> <p>Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.</p> </li></ul> <p>Desired Job Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education or work experience in forestry, natural resources, horticulture or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic plant or tree identification</p> </li><li> <p>MN Tree Inspector</p> </li></ul>
