<p>Title:</p> <p>Bag Screening Attendant</p> <p>Reports To:</p> <p>Vice President for Site Operations</p> <p>Associate Vice President for Security</p> <p>Director of Security-Events & Exhibitions</p> <p>Supervisors and Patrol Supervisors</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Bag Screening Attendants serve as the first point of contact for visitors entering the Garden. They conduct safe, efficient, and customer service-oriented bag inspections?in accordance with?Garden policies and security best practices. Attendants must?maintain?a professional demeanor, effectively communicate policies, and appropriately escalate concerns.</p> <p>Specific Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Greet all visitors courteously and provide clear instructions on bag screening procedures. </li><li>Conduct visual and physical inspections of bags, packages, strollers, and other personal items. </li><li>Identify and manage prohibited items per Garden procedures. </li><li>Maintain situational awareness and report suspicious behavior immediately. </li><li>Use deescalation techniques during conflicts. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of screening areas. </li><li>Operate handheld metal detectors or other issued screening equipment. </li><li>Assist with crowd control during peak visitation and special events. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Candidate must posses and maintain a valid New York State Driver's License. </li><li>Candidate must posses and maintain a valid New York State Security Guard License from the Division of Licensing Services. </li><li>Must have a minimum of two years full time experience in security or related work. </li><li>In possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demand & Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Ability to move up to 25 pounds and lift overhead, stand for long periods of time, work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <ul> <li>This is a temporary, part-time position (Expected to last around 5 months) scheduled Friday through Sunday, plus one assigned weekday (Either Wed or Thurs), from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. </li></ul> <p>Rate</p> <ul> <li>$21 Per Hour </li></ul> <p>If you require an accommodation for any part of the application process, please notify the Human Resources department at HR@nybg.org</p>
