We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.</p> <p>Position Title International Program Specialist, Hofstra International Programs Position Number 896332 Position Category Administration School/Division Office of the Provost (division) Department Continuing Education, Hofstra International Programs Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description</p> <p>Hofstra International Programs (HIP) was formed through a partnership between Hofstra University and INTO University Partnerships. HIP welcomes international students to programs that are aimed at helping them develop English-language competence and higher education academic success skills. It also provides international students with a pathway year of Hofstra University degree-program coursework that results in students entering an undergraduate or graduate degree program. HIP also recruits international students for direct entry into Hofstra University programs. Hofstra International Program's mission is to offer a personalized, world-class student experience that delivers value and a return on education.</p> <p>Reporting to the Academic Director, Hofstra International Programs seeks a full-time International Program Specialist for the 2025-2026 academic year, to holistically support the academic success and integration of international students in the Pathway Program and Academic English Program. This role will support the design, implementation, and delivery of programs that blend academic English instruction, student advising, and university acculturation. The International Program Specialist is responsible for curriculum writing, facilitating non-credit courses, hosting workshops, advising students, participating in extracurricular events, and assuming responsibilities in materials development/coordination or other needed specialized areas. This is a full-time 10-month position. Reappointment is at the discretion of HIP's Academic Director.</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Works collaboratively with Faculty and academic departments to develop, implement, and revise curriculum for non-credit Academic English and Pathway courses in alignment with HIP program goals. </li><li>Works in a team environment with other IEP/Pathway instructors and the Hofstra International Programs team to prepare, select, and use appropriate teaching and learning materials for international students. </li><li>Develops relevant and appropriate lesson plans that incorporate effective teaching strategies and meet the individual needs of students. </li><li>Assesses students using high-quality formative and summative evaluations. </li><li>Provides oral and written feedback to students and staff. </li><li>Provides out-of-class academic support for students via workshops, tutoring, etc. </li><li>Carries out administrative tasks associated with teaching and assessment, including, but not limited to: generating students' academic progress reports, submitting weekly grades, tracking attendance, and attending meetings with or about students. </li><li>Provides teaching coverage in the absence of other colleagues. </li><li>Conducts weekly office hours. </li><li>Participates in relevant social events and activities (e.g. accompanying trips). </li><li>Participates in and contributes to orientation sessions. </li><li>Acts as a positive ambassador for Hofstra International Programs. </li><li>Participates in staff development and professional training as required. </li><li>Attends university and program meetings as needed. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in TESOL or closely related field, such as (but not limited to) Applied Linguistics or Adult Education required. </li><li>3-5 years of related experience, including one year in an academic ESL program. </li><li>Demonstrable knowledge of applied linguistics, second language acquisition, language-teaching methodologies and assessment. </li><li>Excellent English language ability, exceptional communication skills, and a dynamic, charismatic personality. </li><li>Familiarity with LMS and CRM systems. </li><li>Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Competence in a foreign language is preferred. </li><li>TEFL certifications (CELTA, DELTA, Bridge, or Oxford) are a plus. </li><li>Overseas experience or experience teaching in multicultural/multilingual classrooms desired. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions Deadline Open Until Filled Date Posted 08/14/2025 EEO Statement</p> <p>Hofstra University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to extending equal opportunity in employment to all qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national or ethnic origin, physical or mental disability, marital or veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.</p> <p>Salary/Salary Range $67,000 - $75,000</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions.</p> <ul> <li>Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA. </li></ul>
