<p>Job Description:</p> <p>School Nurse</p> <p>Position Title: School Nurse</p> <p>Location: Swift Middle School</p> <p>Position Reports To: Interim Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services, and</p> <p>Director of Curriculum and Instruction for General and Special Education</p> <p>Job ID: #2349</p> <p>Internal Close Date: July 31, 2025</p> <p>External Close Date: August 14, 2025</p> <p>Anticipated Start Date: August 25, 2025</p> <p>Required Certifications & Qualifications</p> <p>Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License</p> <p>Essential Skills, Knowledge Performance Abilities</p> <p>Considerable knowledge of nursing principles and practices</p> <p>Essential Performance Responsibilities</p> <p>Watertown Public Schools is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual with the skills to effectively care for Secondary and transition program aged students, including students with health care plans and/or special needs. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Perform comprehensive health assessments and screenings for students with diverse disabilities and chronic conditions </li><li>Develop and implement Individualized Health Plans </li><li>Administer medications and provide specialized medical treatments, as needed </li><li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans </li><li>Provide health counseling and education to students, parents, and staff on various health topics relevant to adolescents and young adults </li><li>Manage and coordinate care for students with chronic conditions </li><li>Assist in the transition planning process by addressing health-related barriers to post-secondary education or employment </li><li>Educate staff on specific health conditions, emergency procedures, and proper management of student health needs </li><li>Maintain accurate and detailed health records for all students in the program </li><li>Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community health providers </li><li>Provide emergency care and first aid as needed </li><li>Promote positive health habits and self-advocacy skills among students to support their transition to adulthood </li><li>Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations in the school setting </li><li>Advocate for appropriate accommodations and modifications to support students' health needs in various educational and vocational settings </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <p>Based on the working agreement between the Watertown Board of Education and the Local 1303-262 of Council 4, AFSCME.</p> <ul> <li>10 Month Employee - 186 Days </li><li>Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <p>Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Interim Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services or Building Administrator.</p> <p>All application materials must be submitted online, through Applitrack; should you have any difficulty in submitting your online application please contact (860) 945-4813.</p> <ul> <li>District reserves the right to close the posting if a suitable candidate is found prior to the external closing date. </li></ul>
