<p>Utah Valley University is seeking an Accountant I for the fundraising arm of the institution. Under the general supervision of the Foundation Accountant II, provides accounting support for the UVU Foundation. The primary duties include daily deposits, reconciling accounts, managing the due diligence process for gift-in-kind donations, assisting with weekly and monthly reconciliation of call center and credit card donations, and processing gift agreements. This position will also assist the Foundation Accountant with duties related to the annual audit and accounting for investments.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Create deposit logs for all donations received by the foundation, including daily deposits, weekly online donations, and Gifts-in-Kind. Deposit checks, create TouchNet entries, and collect all supporting documentation for donations. Provide logs along with supporting documentation to Gift Processing for recording in Raiser's Edge. Update the logs as needed and submit them to Gift Processing with any changes or new documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Reconcile holding indexes, pledges, online and credit card donations, and employee payroll donations. Track pledge payments, calculate remaining balances, and issue pledge reminder letters in collaboration with the Directors of Development. Assess credit card fees and Gift Reinvestment fees. Create journal entries to allocate donations and fees accordingly and to complete transfer requests. Ensure all supporting documentation is collected and uploaded to Visual Vault for record-keeping.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the Chart of Accounts for Foundation indexes and Program Index Information Sheets. Prepare reports for Endowment Balances and Program Balances to ensure campus partners have knowledge of available funds.</p> </li><li> <p>Create monthly budget reports and distribute them to the appropriate parties. Track and create invoices based on incoming invoice requests.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the Director of Foundation Accounting with annual external audit and investment accounting processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other job-related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree in Business, Accounting, or a closely related field and one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience as described above totaling three years.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.</p> <p>Knowledge</p> <ul> <li> <p>Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of creating reports and navigating and researching databases.</p> </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent attention to detail.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in 10-key.</p> </li></ul> <p>Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to work under pressure, multitask and complete projects and assignments by the appointed deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work as a team member within a large organization with diverse constituencies and rapidly shifting priorities and deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate and interface across division/university and outside parties.</p> </li></ul>
