<p>June 12, 2025</p> <p>SCHOOL CITY OF EAST CHICAGO</p> <p>2025-2026 School Year</p> <p>TITLE: School Social Worker</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal</p> <p>LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Follows Teacher/Student Calendar</p> <p>Job Goal: Provides a problem solving service to children and their families. Serves as a member of diagnostic teams and members of educational planning and placement committees and provides biological, psychological, and sociological assessment information.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):</p> <ul> <li>A Master's Degree in social work from a university/college accredited by the Council on Social Work Education </li><li>Previous experience in a school setting or in an agency serving adolescents and their families is strongly recommended </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Has incorporated social work values, knowledge and practice skills </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to apply the above in facilitating student's improved social functioning and movement toward optimal, physical, emotional and social health </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to function as an effective member of an interdisciplinary health team and is willing to accept some flexibility in roles </li><li>Attends meetings after work hours and participates in health fairs and fund raising activities </li><li>Can develop and maintain productive relationships with significant community agencies and professionals </li><li>Understands the physical and psychological developmental processes of adolescents and related behaviors, and exhibits an accepting attitude toward adolescents </li><li>Demonstrates skills in verbal and written communication </li><li>Has access to automobile with adequate insurance coverage and valid driver's license </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to implement philosophy and objectives of program </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with sponsoring agency, school staff and students </li><li>Ability and willingness to accept supervision and guidance </li><li>Ability to write narrative sections for reports and grants </li><li>As an interdisciplinary team member conducts intake interviews and exit interviews and facilitates students' movement through the clinic and/or health and social resources external to the clinic </li><li>Assesses psychosocial needs of students, and develops and implements plans for intervention as indicated </li><li>As an interdisciplinary team member, provides counseling regarding family and peer problems, concerns related to the physical and psychosocial developmental process of adolescents, alcohol and drug abuse, nutrition concerns, family planning, pregnancy and prenatal concerns, and parenting problems </li><li>As an interdisciplinary team member, provides education and training for other staff members regarding those social work skills which will facilitate team development and maximum role flexibility </li><li>As an interdisciplinary team member, develops and maintains a viable network of community social resources for students </li><li>As an interdisciplinary team member, makes appropriate referrals to community agencies and provides follow up to assure continuity of care </li><li>As an interdisciplinary team member, advocates for students needing assistance in obtaining community resources </li><li>Adequately documents clinic activities in the students' health charts and in other records as deemed appropriate </li><li>Presents and interprets relevant psychological, cultural and economic data about clinic clients to other members of the team during team conferences </li><li>Participates as a team member in planning for and providing integrated health and counseling services </li><li>Ability to function as case manager utilizing multidisciplinary team approach </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED</p> <p>START DATE: August 4, 2025</p> <p>SALARY: In accordance with the current teacher's salary schedule</p> <p>Please submit a letter of interest and credentials/resume to:</p> <p>School City of East Chicago</p> <p>1401 East 144th Street</p> <p>East Chicago, IN 46312</p> <p>HumanResources@ecps.org</p> <p>Medical/Dental/Vision and Retirement</p>
