<p>Posting Number S370P Working Title Director of Facilities Management FLSA Exempt Pay Grade Non-Classified Advertised Salary Position Status Full Time Appointment Length 12 Months Department Facilities Management Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>This position serves as the Director of Facilities Management, which assumes full responsibility for all areas of Facilities Management, which includes budget planning/management and comprehensively directs all areas of Facilities Management, including budget planning, contract and vendor negotiating, reviewing agreements/contracts for compliance and accuracy, and determining allocation of all funding to appropriately meet the needs for building and equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, continuous grounds maintenance, custodial operations, and utility management to include energy savings measures, where appropriate. The position directs all aspects of personnel management, construction, renovation, grounds, custodial, space utilization, shipping and receiving, mail services, and coordination of University-wide safety and emergency management programs.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct and control all aspects of facilities management activities and capital project management. Ability to work with management systems including work order, energy management and ERP systems. Ability to effectively work with a variety of skilled/unskilled, professional, administrative and industry personnel both internal and external to the University. Knowledge of office administration, plant management, budget development and management and business operations. Demonstrated experience in emergency planning and hazardous waste management. 4-8 years of experience in managing personnel, emergency planning general maintenance of buildings, PM systems, building mechanical systems, building construction/renovations, trades such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, general contracting, AIA, and engineering; safety and regulatory (OSHA, MSDS, RTK, DOL, RECRA, EPA, etc.); computer literate; supervisory and administrative, and finance and budget.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Registration as a professional engineer or architect</p> <p>Posting Date 01/29/2026 Close Date Special Instructions Summary</p> <p>Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered as meeting the minimum qualifications, at the direction of the hiring supervisor.</p> <p>Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.</p> <p>We believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. Develops annual capital projects budget including campus deferred maintenance projects.</p> <p>Provides administrative and technical direction and supervision to department staff in office, grounds, custodial, construction management, and professional trades including work schedules, annual goal development and performance reviews and training.</p> <p>Assists in the preparation of contract documents and the negotiation of bids for construction and renovation contracts and administers and monitors the performance of such contracts.</p> <p>Advises, discusses, collaborates and informs administrators, deans, department heads and staff on facility preventive maintenance activities, enhancement/repair, projects, space utilization, and safety and emergency planning.</p> <p>Determines the appropriate level of staffing and skills needed to maintain University buildings, grounds, and assets.</p> <p>Discusses, plans and delegates project assignments to supervisory staff; establishes building maintenance, custodial, grounds, capital projects, and office management priorities.</p> <p>Insures proper upkeep of facilities including HVAC, lighting, cleanliness, sanitation, general appearance of buildings and grounds, safety, snow removal and emergency situations affecting campus.</p> <p>Maintains and expands preventative maintenance programs.</p> <p>Coordinates the administration of service contracts.</p> <p>Maintains liaison with architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors providing services to the University.</p> <p>Maintains repository for blue prints, drawings, and operating manuals updated as needed.</p> <p>Develops and maintains university-wide hazardous waste management program ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.</p> <p>Oversees University-wide safety and grounds committee.</p> <p>Executes University Master Plan and collaborates with the VP of Finance/Administration for updates and revisions to the Master Plan as required by the WV Higher Education Policy.</p> <p>Job duties are being expanded to include responsibility for the maintenance and ongoing physical operation of all buildings to include auxiliary buildings, including but not limited to the Student Center, Residence Halls and Wellness Center. The Wellness Center pool will further be managed by this position and will coordinate routine maintenance and chemical maintenance with the Wellness Center Director and pool staff.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p>
