For additional information on the background check requirements and process visit "Learn about background checks" under the Applicant Support Resources section of Careers on the It's Your Yale website.</p> <p>Position Focus:</p> <p>The Aksoy lab at the Yale School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases, works with the tsetse fly model system to study arthopod vector-microorganism interactions, with the ultimate goal being the reduce the spread of vector-borne diseases. The prospective employee will work closely with Dr. Serap Aksoy (lab PI), Dr. Brian Weiss (Senior Research Scientist), and post-doctoral scientists.</p> <p>Position duties include (but may not be limited to):</p> <ul> <li>Maintenance of the tsetse fly colony (feeding and sexing the flies and cleaning all materials related to colony maintenance). </li><li>Assistance of experimental procedures to facilitate laboratory scientific goals. </li><li>Assistance with animal (mouse) procedures. </li><li>Preparation of solutions and supplies, and maintenance of lab and equipment. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Posting Disclaimer</p> <p>The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the essential functions that will be required of the position and should not be construed as a declaration of specific duties and responsibilities of the particular position.
