<p>The Advanced Level Medical Support Assistant(MSA) position serves as a Consult Coordinator for Non-VA Care. The AMSA works collaboratively with other members of expanded health care teams (PACT, specialty care) including Non-VA Care providers, pharmacists, etc. to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. The Advanced Medical Support Assistant is part of the Referral Coordination Team within Community Care. Duty location is at the Columbus Main Facility.</p> <p>VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELo</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>The Advanced MSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model (i.e. PACT, Specialty Clinics, C&P, Non-VA Care) and performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointment schedules for all Non-VA Care. The major duties of the position include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Communicates with Non-VA Care providers to ensure they accept VA patients and payments, prepare any required pre-appointment documents, schedules the appropriate level of care and documents the schedule in the appropriate consult. </li><li>Obtains medical documentation from Non-VA providers, scans to appropriate consult and view alerts the VA providers for continuity of care. </li><li>Reviews all under-obligations and makes corrections within FBCS for current and/or future care. </li><li>Supports patient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs identification of all patients using two forms of identification, name and full Social Security Number. </li><li>Incumbent complies with the mandatory training requirements for the outpatient scheduling processes. </li><li>Ensures all appointments are scheduled timely and the provider and patient's desired dates are met. </li><li>The incumbent contributes to the revenue collection process by identifying patients with third party insurance. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm</p> <p>Telework: Not Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 91390A</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p>
