The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met. </li><li>Align workstation plans with production schedules to ensure timely availability and transition between work phases. </li><li>Collaborate with scheduling and production teams to support just-in-time operations and load leveling. </li><li>Assign production workspaces by evaluating build strategies, takt time requirements, and sequential operations. </li><li>Analyze workforce distribution, equipment availability, and space usage to ensure balanced and feasible workstation assignments. </li><li>Plan workstation layouts in alignment with construction flow, ergonomics, and access to shared equipment (cranes, lifts, tools). </li><li>Adjust workstation plans based on evolving project priorities and site constraints (e.g., available floor space, proximity to utilities, logistics access). </li><li>Anticipate and resolve space conflicts, staging issues, and material flow bottlenecks. </li><li>Maintain an up-to-date understanding of shop capabilities and construction priorities to inform layout and sequencing decisions. </li><li>Interface with production supervisors, production engineers and planners to validate layout and planning decisions. </li><li>Provide clear workstation plans and documentation to floor teams, enabling efficient execution and minimal downtime. </li><li>Identify opportunities to improve workstation efficiency, safety, and throughput. </li><li>Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to layout optimization and production flow. </li><li>Help define standard operating footprints for recurring work packages across ship classes or zones. </li><li>Perform other related duties as required and assigned. </li></ul> <p>COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both verbally and written </li><li>Strategic thinking, decision making and problem solving </li><li>Adaptability and organizational skills and understanding </li><li>Strategic thinking </li><li>Collaboration - working effectively across departments to align production needs with operational goals </li><li>Integrity </li><li>Conflict resolution </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). </li><li>3+ years of experience in shipbuilding, heavy manufacturing, or industrial planning. </li><li>Familiarity with production planning tools, CAD-based layout software, and Microsoft Office. </li><li>Strong spatial reasoning and ability to interpret engineering drawings and schedules. </li><li>Experience working in a modular or zone-based shipbuilding environment. </li><li>Knowledge of lean manufacturing and takt-based production principles. </li><li>Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production simulation tools. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke.
