<p>This Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is located in the Primary Care Clinic at the Bemidji VA Clinic in Bemidji, MN. This LPN works under the direction of an RN as a member of a Primary Care team, providing basic and specialized nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of physical, mental, behavioral, or psychological needs.</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>Responsible for lab specimen collection and processing in a timely manner for shipment to Fargo VA for testing. Conduct quality controls on point of care lab testing machines and perform routine College of American Pathologists (CAP) proficiency testing for all test platforms.</p> <p>Major Duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Perform a variety of critical care tasks, which include monitoring patients' vital signs, assessing pain levels, executing clinical reminders, performing blood draws when required, applying braces or splints, irrigating ears, collecting culture specimens, changing dressings, and removing sutures or staples, as well as conducting EKGs. </li><li>Contribute to the evaluation, planning, implementation, and assessment of nursing care to facilitate the patient's swift return to or maintenance of optimal health, ensuring continuity of care tailored to each patient's unique needs. </li><li>Monitor and document the patient's physical state, emotional reactions, skin condition, fluctuations in vital signs, and personal habits, paying close attention to any indications of the patient's response to their illness and treatment, and ensuring all observations are recorded in the designated format. </li><li>Implement emergency protocols and provide assistance in resuscitation efforts during cardiac or pulmonary arrest situations. </li><li>Respond to concerns of patients and visitors in a manner that is effective and improves customer satisfaction. </li><li>Regularly inspect equipment, supplies, and containers to confirm that products are current and adequately stocked in accordance with unit procedures. </li><li>Prepare and administer prescribed medications and perform treatments according to established policies and procedures. </li><li>Engage in educational programs for patients and their families focused on health promotion, while also reinforcing in the guidance provided by the Registered Nurse and Provider. </li><li>Collaborate with PACT staff to create detailed health care and management plans for assigned patients. </li><li>Oversee clinic operations, ensuring timely patient placement in examination rooms and guiding them through the clinic process. </li><li>Participate in team performance improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and care delivery, while facilitating effective communications for safe patient transitions between care settings. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
