<p>Job Title: Wetland Delineator (Environmental Scientist)</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Wetland Delineator position involves supporting a variety of environmental projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in stream and wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species assessments, document preparation, and proficiency with GIS. This role requires effective communication with clients and agency representatives both in writing and verbally. Regular fieldwork and periodic overnight travel are required, primarily in Virginia and North Carolina.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Conduct stream and wetland delineations in compliance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state regulations. </li><li>Perform threatened and endangered species assessments and surveys. </li><li>Prepare documentation and reports related to environmental projects. </li><li>Coordinate with clients and agency representatives effectively through written and verbal communication. </li><li>Travel to remote job sites, including overnight stays, as needed, primarily in Virginia and North Carolina. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or similar in an environmentally-related field. </li><li>2-5+ years of experience in jurisdictional delineations, particularly in the Coastal Plain and Piedmont regions of Virginia and North Carolina. </li><li>Virginia PWD and/or State Surface Water Delineator certification is highly preferred. </li><li>Proficiency with GIS, specifically ArcMap, is highly desired. </li><li>Effective written and oral communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience or certification as a USFWS certified surveyor for threatened and endangered species is highly desired. </li><li>Ability to work well in diverse groups and independently without direct supervision. </li><li>Valid driver's license. </li><li>Physically capable of working in various weather conditions and terrains. </li><li>Must be authorized to work in the U.S. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Work alongside ecologists, engineers, and other professional environmental staff. Enjoy a flexible schedule with remote work options while being based in Hampton Roads. The position offers opportunities for growth and exposure to various aspects of the business in a small firm setting. No weekend work is required.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Permanent position based out of Newport News, VA.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
