<p>Position Description</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Coordinator of English as a Second Language</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Proficient in instructional strategies related to ESOL</p> <p>Certified ESOL teacher</p> <p>Minimum of 5 years teaching experience</p> <p>Effective Communication Skills</p> <p>Effective Organizational Skills</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Superintendent</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Schedule and promote ESL parent meetings, social events, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate curriculum writing with ESL teachers and Direct of Curriculum Development.</p> </li><li> <p>Create bi-monthly ESL newsletters.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet with ESL teachers on a regular basis before/after school.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop materials, as appropriate (e.g. regarding cultural information of students).</p> </li><li> <p>Recommend translators to Human Resources for appropriate employment .</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and distribute a current list of approved translators to ESL Staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate the scheduling of students with the administration, counseling departments, and ESL teachers.</p> </li><li> <p>Make recommendations to Director of Research, Evaluation and Assessment of students requiring modifications/exemptions of students for standardized testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate in-service/staff development opportunities.</p> </li></ul> <p>OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintain inventory of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate visitations to district.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend local, regional and state meetings to remain current on legislative and best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the maintenance of files of former and current students.</p> </li><li> <p>Submit student scheduling of ESL teachers to Superintendent for approval.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a resource to ESL teachers for questions, concerns, future planning, grants, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul>
