<p>Schedule:</p> <p>Monday - Friday (40 hrs/wk)</p> <p>9:00 AM - 5:30 PM</p> <p>Training Schedule:</p> <p>Monday - Friday</p> <p>8:00 AM - 4:30 PM</p> <p>Department: Anatomic Pathology G&A - 381</p> <p>The Anatomic Pathology Consultation Processing Specialist is a member of the ARUP Anatomic Pathology G&A department and part of the Pathology Division. This position is located at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. This individual will work together with other Technical Staff in support of the company's mission to provide excellent patient care every day.</p> <p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>The Anatomic Pathology Consultation Processing Specialist provides support services for designated department of technical operations and clients with a focus on materials received for comprehensive consultation or over-reads. Duties include specimen evaluation and processing, problem solving, exception handling and customer service. Contact clients with specimen information such as specimen integrity, volume, test clarification, and missing specimens. Provide a supportive link between customers and all other areas of the company.</p> <p>About ARUP:</p> <p>ARUP Laboratories is a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory and an enterprise of the University of Utah and its Department of Pathology. Consider joining our dynamic team.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>Understands appropriate collection, handling and transportation of outside facility materials.</p> <p>Accurately processes outside consultation materials according to established departmental procedures, including accessioning, data entry, triaging, digital scanning, additional test requests, on-site storage, and material return.</p> <p>Evaluates specimens for acceptability and follows the appropriate procedures for materials that do not meet acceptance criteria.</p> <p>Provides education, guidance, and troubleshooting to customers regarding available resources and consultation services offered.</p> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Physical and Other Requirements:</p> <p>Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.</p> <p>Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.</p> <p>Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.</p> <p>Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.</p> <p>PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.</p> <p>ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.</p> <p>Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.</p> <p>Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.</p> <p>Absolute integrity in the accurate identification of samples, test performance, and reporting of results</p> <p>Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.</p> <p>Continuing Education: Continual assessment of current literature and best practices.</p>
