Woodbury Middle School teachers are leaders in their fields and specialize in meeting students' needs in and across a variety of State and National Standards. Woodbury Middle School teachers work with their instructional leader to continually develop research-based lessons that meet the needs of all students. A commitment to researching and implementing effective and dynamic strategies for tier one instruction to include small group instruction is required. Woodbury Middle School teachers strive for excellence and challenge students with a rigorous approach while co-planning with departments across the school.</p> <p>The candidate must demonstrate the following:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct in accordance with the Region 14 teacher job description </li><li>Develop and deliver a comprehensive mathematics curriculum aligned with Illustrative Mathematics </li><li>Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school setting </li><li>Confer with families and professionals in the school and community in the best interests of the students </li><li>Actively engage in data driven decision making and reflect upon the impact it has on teaching and learning </li><li>Foster critical thinking and creative problem solving by engaging students in inquiry </li><li>Collaborate with teaching colleagues on subject area and grade level teams </li><li>Seek and act on feedback from instructional leaders, colleagues, and administrators </li><li>Establish and maintain frequent communication with parents, guardians, and families </li><li>Evaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet these needs </li><li>Collaborate with support staff and interventionists to develop and evaluate progress towards meeting measurable goals and objectives </li><li>Maintain PowerSchool gradebook in a timely and effective manner that reflects student outcomes aligned with the intended curriculum and recognizes our Vision of a Learner attributes </li><li>Pursue continuous professional growth to stay abreast of changes in the field </li><li>Participate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into instructional practices </li><li>Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification </li><li>Willing to actively participate in positive school climate and culture-building activities during and outside of the school day </li></ul> <p>SALARY- By Contract</p> <p>WORK YEAR: By Contract</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: State of Connecticut Certification Required</p> <ul> <li>Mathematics, 4-12 (029) - Preferred </li><li>Mathematics, Middle School, 4-8 (229), Middle Grades, 4-8 (006), or Elementary, PreK-6 (305) - Also considered </li></ul> <p>UNION AFFILIATION: Nonnewaug Teachers Association</p> <p>Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>APPLY ONLINE:</p> <ul> <li>Letter of intent </li><li>Resume </li><li>3 letters of reference </li><li>Transcripts </li><li>Proof of Certification </li></ul> <p>The Regional School District 14 Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, marital status, national/ethnic origin, age, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, or disability in its programs, activities, and employment practices as set forth in compliance with the Office of Civil Rights, Title VI, Title IX, and Section 504.
