Posting Number 20162907F Job Description</p> <p>The Department of Social and Public Health (DSPH) in the College of Health Sciences and Professions at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Human Development and Family Science/Child Life Specialist academic program. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate HDFS classes on campus and online and engage in university and professional service.</p> <p>We seek an enthusiastic and experienced educator and Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) to teach across our undergraduate and graduate HDFS/Child Life curriculum. Potential undergraduate and graduate courses include Foundations and Theory in Child Life, Fundamentals in Child Life and Pediatric Healthcare, Children and Families in Healthcare Settings, and classes within the HDFS curriculum. Additionally, this position will lead the yearly Child Life in Ireland Office of Global Opportunities/Health Sciences and Professions Study Away program and advise the Child Life Student Organization. Additional responsibilities include assisting the Child Life Clinical Director to support clinical community engagement experiences during the fall & spring semesters, mentoring/advising HDFS graduate students, and mentoring undergraduate HDFS students.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in child life; if the master's degree is in a closely related field (e.g. HDFS, Child and Family Studies, Child Development), the undergraduate degree must be in Child Life. </li><li>Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) </li><li>At least 6 years of clinical experience as a CCLS in a pediatric healthcare setting. </li><li>Commitment to in-person teaching on the Athens campus </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Evidence of effective university-level teaching </li><li>Experience with e-learning and online course delivery </li><li>Active involvement in professional organizations such as the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) and the Great Lakes Association of Child Life Professionals (GLACLP) </li></ul> <p>Department Dept of Social and Public Health Pay Rate</p> <p>Pay is commensurate with experience and credentials and is accompanied by our generous university benefits such as tuition for self and dependents, a comprehensive insurance package (including but not limited to health, prescription, vision, dental, and life insurance), an excellent retirement plan including company contributions, parental leave, adoption reimbursement, and more.
