<p>POSITION: Career Technical Instructor - Automotive Technology</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Campus Director/Assistant Director or Designee</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, 184 Days, Master Agreement, FLSA Exempt</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum of five (5) years of recent, relevant experience in automotive repair and service.</p> </li><li> <p>ASE Master Technician certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid teaching license in Career-Technical Education, or eligibility to obtain CTE certification as required by the state.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of modern automotive technology, diagnostic tools, and safety procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to create and maintain an engaging, hands-on learning environment that supports student growth and industry readiness.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills with students, staff, and community partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Must meet all required background checks and licensure standards per Ohio Department of Education.</p> </li></ul> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Automotive Technology Instructor provides students with a comprehensive, hands-on education in automotive repair and maintenance. This position is responsible for delivering engaging instruction in areas such as brake systems, engine performance, electrical systems, and advanced diagnostics. The instructor will guide students through real-world repair projects, preparing them for industry-recognized certifications and successful entry into the automotive field. A strong background in the automotive industry and a passion for teaching technical skills are essential for success in this role.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop and deliver lessons aligned with Ohio Career-Technical Content Standards for Automotive Technology.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide engaging, hands-on instruction in all areas of automotive technology, including brake systems, engine performance, electrical systems, steering/suspension, and diagnostics.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare students for success on ASE Student Certification exams and other industry-recognized credentials.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop lesson plans, lab exercises, and assessments aligned with state standards and program objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise students in both classroom and lab settings, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper use of tools and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and service instructional vehicles, tools, and equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.</p> </li><li> <p>Integrate current automotive technology trends and best practices into instruction to reflect industry standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and local industry partners to support program development and work-based learning opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote skill mastery and professional growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation in accordance with district and state requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional development, industry training, and advisory committee meetings to maintain program relevance and certification compliance.</p> </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. </li><li>Conducts and presents the position in a professional manner. </li><li>Maintains a positive work attitude. </li><li>Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills. </li><li>Actively seeks to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challenges through involvement in professional development activities. </li><li>Is punctual and thorough in implementation of all assigned duties. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Occasional: Exposure to severe weather, traffic, blood, bodily fluids and tissue, light lifting (up to 50 pounds), travel to remote sites, attend functions and perform duties outside normal working hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. </li><li>Periodic: Exposure to loud noise, irritating and hazardous chemicals, fumes, and unruly children and adults. </li><li>Frequent: Prolonged periods of standing and lifting (10-20 pounds) of supplies and materials. Bending, stooping and reaching for items. Follow all Board safety rules and procedures. Participate in the school safety training when requested. </li></ul> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>Assistant Director of Secondary Education</p> <p>Starting date:</p> <p>Position begins with the 2026-2027 school year. Selected candidate may have the opportunity to begin training during the 2025-2026 school year.</p> <p>Salary and Benefits:</p> <p>Based upon Board Policy and Master Agreement. Appropriate placement on the Certified Staff Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience in the various sectors of the business field. Base contract is: 184 days; 7.5 hour workday.
