<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Emergency Medical Services Adjunct Faculty members provide instruction for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) educational offerings and participate in program planning, implementation, and evaluation. The position requires:</p> <ul> <li>use or creation of lesson plans and evaluation tools based on curriculum learning objectives, </li><li>establishment of effective learning environments for adult learners, </li><li>delivery of both didactic and laboratory instruction, </li><li>planning and coordination of training and educational activities, and </li><li>interpretation of and response to the needs of the EMS community. </li></ul> <p>Adjunct faculty are expected to adhere to the guidelines and provisions contained in the Adjunct Faculty Guide published annually by the School of Continuing Studies.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>A Master's degree from an accredited institution is required as well as previous teaching experience such as EMS instructor courses, teaching internship, or equivalent. At least 5 years must be directly related EMS experience. Current EMS or healthcare licensure is required at or above the EMT level of instruction.</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of EMS theory, practice, and trends; </li><li>Knowledge of current EMS curricular content and education standards; </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation; </li><li>Ability to adapt EMS curricula to reflect State requirements, local needs, and national trends; </li><li>Knowledge of the delivery of emergency medical services; </li><li>Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies; </li><li>Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills; </li><li>Knowledge of competency-based education principles and methods; </li><li>Ability to assess student performance and progress as well as provide appropriate feedback; </li><li>Ability to promote higher-order thinking and problem-solving among educational participants; </li><li>Ability to adhere to established standards for educational quality; </li><li>Ability to maintain complete and accurate educational records; </li><li>Knowledge of EMS educational program accreditation processes and standards. </li></ul> <p>At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Roger Williams University is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and com-mitted to a diverse workforce.
