<p>About Our Job</p> <p>Who We Are</p> <p>Denver County Court</p> <p>The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently, and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work. The City and County of Denver's third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 3 full-time magistrates, and 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other general sessions cases within the City and County of Denver. The Denver County Court proudly serves the community and continually seeks ways to incorporate procedural fairness and evidence-based practices.</p> <p>The Division</p> <p>The combined Traffic and Civil Division is the highest volume division in Denver County Court- serving more than 100,000 customers a year. Unique to the Judicial Associate I position is the opportunity to rotate to different divisions throughout the Denver County Court as judicial courtroom assignments change.</p> <p>What We Offer</p> <p>The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The hourly range for this position is $28.87 - $44.75. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service </li><li>457B Retirement Plan </li><li>132 hours of PTO earned within first year </li><li>11 Paid Holidays per year, plus 1 personal holiday, and 8 hours of Denver Good Deeds volunteer time </li><li>Education Refund Program (ERP) - a chance for the city to support your continued learning and career growth by investing in your future with the city </li><li>Care Bank - 8 weeks of Paid Family Leave (after the probation period is passed) </li><li>Free RTD Eco Pass </li><li>Competitive medical, dental and vision plans effective within 1 month of start date </li></ul> <p>Location</p> <p>In this position you can expect to work on site at the City and County Building, located at 1437 Bannock Denver, CO 80202, Monday through Friday 7:00AM - 4:00PM.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>As a Judicial Associate I you can expect to:</p> <ul> <li>Be a valued member of a small, but dynamic team where mutual trust, collaboration, and reliance is critical to the team's success </li><li>Provide excellent and unbiased service to all customers of the Court in a high-volume division </li><li>Work both independently and collaboratively with stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-volume courtroom </li><li>Support procedural fairness </li><li>Maintain detailed and confidential records, manage all courtroom activities and functions, and act as liaison between defendants, attorneys, court personnel, other stakeholders, and the judicial officer </li><li>Represent your judicial officer and the court in a positive and professional manner as the face of your courtroom </li><li>Rotate to different courtrooms throughout the court depending on your judge's annual courtroom assignment. If your assigned Judge changes courtrooms, your position will follow your Judge to their new rotation </li><li>Adjust work hours as needed for trials, hearings, or particularly high-volume dockets </li><li>Enter your Judge's orders and findings in the case record in real time during Court, keeping pace with the proceedings as each case is called </li><li>Become a process and operations expert and find proactive solutions when available </li></ul> <p>What You'll Bring</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have integrity and a strong commitment to public service. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the following:</p> <ul> <li>Court specific knowledge, experience drafting legal documents and conducting legal research </li><li>Kindness, compassion, and a high regard for people </li><li>Experience with customer de-escalation and conflict management </li><li>Experience with electronic filing systems/databases </li><li>Commitment to publics service/volunteer service a plus </li><li>Strong written and oral communication skills </li><li>Possess the ability to perform with a team </li><li>Bilingual, Spanish (an asset) </li></ul> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience in a court, law enforcement or legal setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Education and Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements with the exception of the two years of experience in court, law enforcement or legal setting.</p> </li><li> <p>License/Certification Requirement: Must be able to pass an initial pre-security clearance screening and maintain CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) certification as a condition of employment.
