<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Complex Claims Manager leads a team of Complex Claims Senior Specialists and/or Construction Defect Claims Litigation Specialists to ensure proper evaluation, reserving, adjustment, and resolution of complex claims which have a significant financial impact and/or produce high corporate visibility.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Ensures consistent delivery of claims practices, resources, tools, and performance, and drives organizational results through appropriate vendor and process solutions/applications. </li><li>Leads his or term team as they supervise or handle Westfield's largest and most complex claims, including the adjustment and resolution of Westfield's referred claim files. Assists in analyzing insurance policies, legal procedures, legislation, and court opinions and serves as a technical subject matter expert in complex claims, maintaining the overall quality of complex claim files. </li><li>Trains and assists in the technical and/or leadership development of his/her team of claim professionals as well as the Casualty Claims team. </li><li>Oversees his or her team's timely and appropriate reserving, identifying and reporting claims to reinsurance where appropriate, investigations, evaluations, and resolution strategies. Authorizes reserve and settlement authority and monitors cases with potentially large financial impacts through trial. </li><li>Serves as a technical consultant to claims staff, business partners, quality assurance, and related industry groups. Provides expertise in policy language creation and may contribute to the selection of vendors, new markets, and product enhancements. </li><li>Maintains effective and ongoing communication with claims staff, internal and external business partners, project team members, claims leadership, and vendors and serves as a subject matter expert to the various business units regarding complex claims. </li><li>Gathers, organizes and analyzes performance data and results to identify and report performance, trends, and opportunities; makes recommendations regarding areas of improvement. Creates reports and communicates results with claims leadership, agents, and business partners. </li><li>Provides exceptional service to internal and external business partners and recognizes potential significant exposures on claims and prepares or supervises his/her team in the preparation of appropriate alerts to senior managers and internal business partners. </li><li>Participates in complex claim exposure analysis and strategy discussions, collaborates with leaders to identify emerging trends, and develops new mitigation strategies. </li><li>Handles talent management responsibilities and may participate in the development and implementation of operational responsibilities including planning, process improvement, ensuring work quality and customer service, budgeting, and identifying risk and mitigation strategies related to complex claims and other processes. </li><li>Stays current on industry topics, trends, processes, and technology, shares knowledge with others to drive new and updated policies, processes, and procedures where appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>7+ years of experience complex claims handling or a related field. </li><li>Bachelor's degree in business or a related field and/or commensurate work experience. </li></ul> <p>Location</p> <p>Remote</p> <p>Behavioral Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Collaborates </li><li>Communicates Effectively </li><li>Customer Focus </li><li>Decision Quality </li><li>Nimble Learning </li><li>Builds Effective Teams </li><li>Business Insight </li><li>Develops Talent </li><li>Directs Work </li><li>Ensures Accountability </li><li>Manages Complexity </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills</p> <ul> <li>Claims Management System </li><li>Statistical Analysis </li><li>Insurance Industry Knowledge </li><li>Business Process Improvement </li><li>Financial controls </li><li>Claims Case Management </li><li>Claims Investigation </li><li>Risk Management </li></ul> <p>This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed in this role.
